What happens when a celebrated make-up artist like Anu Kaushik does make-up on her daughter Divyansha Kaushik in a make-up tutorial video? In the latest episode of Masterclass by Manifest, the make-up artist demonstrates a soft-glam look that puts good skin, softly defined eyes and glossy lips in the spotlight.
Anu begins with a hydrating mist, followed by a generous layer of moisturiser, while keeping the lips hydrated from the outset. “The most crucial step is to do the skin prep right,” she says, setting the foundation—quite literally—for the rest of the look.
With the skin prepped, Anu turns her attention to the eyes. She first uses a touch of concealer to even out the tone on Divyansha’s eyelids, before introducing a wash of green eyeshadow to subtly contour the eyes. A powder shadow sets the colour, while a deeper brown shade close to the lash line adds definition. To bring light to the lids, she layers on champagne gold, followed by a cream-brown shade to intensify the effect.
Rather than opting for an overt eyeliner, Anu keeps the definition understated, working a hidden liner very close to the lashes. The final touches—curled lashes and mascara—open up the eyes without taking away from the soft-glam appeal. A little kajal on the outer half of the lower lash line adds just enough drama.
Divyansha’s naturally full brows require little intervention, so Anu lets them remain largely untouched. She then moves on to the complexion, carefully concealing the under-eye area before applying a light layer of foundation. A hint of contour works to sculpt the face, particularly around Divyansha’s already-defined jawline.
Once the cream products are in place, Anu sets the complexion with powder, making sure the under-eye area remains crease-free. A soft sweep of powder blush across the apples of the cheeks adds a healthy flush, with the colour blended seamlessly into the skin.
For the lips, Anu takes a more playful approach, mixing shades rather than relying on a single colour. The result is a dimensional lip finished with a touch of gloss at the centre, adding the shine that brings the entire look together.
The final result is classic soft glam: luminous skin, subtly smoked eyes, sculpted features and glossy lips—polished enough for a cocktail party, but never overly done.
And perhaps the best review comes from Divyansha herself. “I love it. It’s perfect,” she says, admiring the finished look. Her verdict? “Good skin.”
As Anu agrees, that may just be the secret to the entire look.
