One of the most talked about shows in TV and entertainment, the Emmy Awards is nothing, if not a smorgasbord of gorgeous silhouettes, glamour and legendary red-carpet fashion. This year's soiree did not disappoint.
The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards saw a starry lineup of celebrities making their way to the venue - Peacock Theater in Downtown Los Angeles, California, to honour the best names in television for the year, with Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay playing master of ceremonies for the evening. The spotlight was on the stage and off it, from actor Matthew Rhys bagging two wins for Apple TV's Widow’s Bay and Netflix’s ‘The Beast in Me’ to Zendaya (nominated for Euphoria) in a silver Prada gown, turning heads in nearly 10 carats of diamonds, as she rocked her shortest hair transformation yet!
Among the sea of stars, hopes, wins and dazzle, it was a fashion-forward showcase alright, but one colour ruled the night. Lavender made for the reigning trend as a number of celebrities showed up in the hue.
Lavender and lilac grabbed attention as the trend du jour, with stars wearing ensembles in the hue. Here’s a look at their outfits.
Game of Thrones star and four-time Emmy Award winner Emilia Clarke stunned in a lilac strapless Prada silk-faille gown with a voluminous cape. We loved that bow on her knee-high slit! Her accessories were subtle with diamond covered earrings by Boucheron.
Florence Pugh who presented an Emmy Award, chose to go pastel purple in her custom Vivienne Westwood corseted gown with a shimmering lilac tulle overlay. She paired that beautifully with a pink-and-green crystal-and-diamond choker necklace.
Sarah Pidgeon who was nominated for her role as Carolyn Bessette Kennedy in Ryan Murphy’s Love Story, rocked a matching lavender romantic, liquid-silk Matthieu Blazy Chanel slip gown that had pretty pearl embellishments on its straps and cowl neckline.
Shrinking star Jessica Williams also opted for the hue in a frilly semi-sheer, tiered purple Honor bustier corset bodice and tiered skirt with silver detailing. Her choice of accessories added glamour to her ensemble in the way of ear cuffs, dainty hoop earrings and statement rings. Her hairstyle in old Hollywood waves totally added to her look!
For Law & Order: Special Victims Unit star, Mariska Hargitay playing master of ceremonies host was a milestone moment as she became the first woman to host the Emmy Awards in 15 years! And keeping with the number game, she actually changed her looks a whopping 12 times at the awards!
Among her looks were a strapless silver gown with a train, a black gown with a sculpted neckline, a sequin, a black power blazer and a white monochromatic suit, a fitting coral gown, an off-shoulder crystal gown and more.
