ICW 2026: Rohit Bal Couture Shines Under the Helm of Fraze Tasnim

At Hyundai India Couture Week 2026 in association with the FDCI, the House of Rohit Bal returned with its second couture showcase since the designer's passing. Rooted in the couturier's familiar codes, the collection looked to the future without leaving the past.

At Hyundai India Couture Week 2026, the House of Rohit Bal marked its second couture outing since the designer’s passing, presenting a collection that balanced remembrance with renewal. Roses—Bal’s enduring motif—remained at the heart of the collection, serving as a quiet homage to his lifelong love with the flower. Under the direction of creative director Fraze Tasnim, the house chose continuity over reinvention, extending Bal’s distinctive design language with measured restraint while gently ushering the label into its next chapter.

Several of the designer’s signatures resurfaced in familiar yet refreshed forms. An iconic ivory crushed silk anarkali was reinterpreted in a vibrant, multicoloured palette, while velvet capes, sharply tailored jackets and bandhagalas carried the intricate floral embroidery that had long defined the house. Rather than treating the archive as a museum piece, Tasnim revisited Bal’s design vocabulary with subtle updates, preserving its romanticism while lending it renewed relevance.

The menswear was equally assured. Sheer shirts were paired with polka-dot breeches, while high Victorian collars lent a sense of old-world formality without veering into costume. Throughout the collection, the emphasis remained on craftsmanship, rich textiles and expressive silhouettes, reaffirming the codes that made Rohit Bal one of Indian fashion's most distinctive couturiers. If the collection looked to the future, it did so without severing its ties to the designer whose vision shaped the house for decades.
