As Falguni Shane Peacock returns to Hyundai India Couture Week 2026, the showcase marks more than another moment on the runway—it reflects a larger ambition to position an Indian fashion house on the global luxury stage. Since the RPSG Group's strategic partnership with the label earlier this year, the focus has extended beyond seasonal collections to building an enduring luxury maison rooted in creativity, craftsmanship and long-term brand equity. In an exclusive interview with Manifest, Shivika Goenka, Director of Luxury and Education at RPSG Group, speaks about why couture remains the creative pinnacle of a fashion house, the importance of protecting designers' creative independence while building institutional strength, and how India can evolve from being a manufacturing powerhouse to becoming a creator of globally respected luxury brands.

1. What does Falguni Shane Peacock's participation in India Couture Week signify for both the brand and RPSG as a strategic partner?

India Couture Week is where a brand's creative identity is expressed at its highest level. For Falguni Shane Peacock, it is an opportunity to reinforce everything the house stands for—craftsmanship, storytelling and couture excellence. For RPSG, it reflects our commitment to nurturing Indian luxury brands with a long-term vision, creating the environment where creativity can flourish while building a globally respected maison.

2. One of the strengths of this partnership is allowing Falguni and Shane Peacock to focus on creativity while RPSG drives business growth. How important is that balance in building a successful luxury fashion house?

The world's most successful luxury houses have always protected creative excellence while building strong institutions around it. It is fundamental. Our role is to provide governance, organisational depth and long-term capital so that the designers can focus on what they do best—creating exceptional couture. That clarity of roles allows both creativity and the business to thrive.

3. What does an Indian luxury maison need today to compete with established European fashion houses, both in terms of craftsmanship and global positioning?

India already possesses extraordinary craftsmanship. The opportunity now is to combine that heritage with consistent storytelling, world-class client experiences and disciplined brand building. Global luxury is not defined only by history—it is built through authenticity, consistency and a clear point of view. Indian maisons have every ingredient needed to earn that place.

4. What will Falguni Shane Peacock's global expansion strategy be as a brand?

Our focus is on thoughtful expansion rather than rapid expansion. We want to deepen our presence in markets where Indian couture already has strong resonance, including the Middle East, North America and the UK, while creating immersive retail experiences that reflect the brand's universe. Every new market should strengthen the brand's exclusivity and desirability rather than simply increase its footprint.

5. It has been several months since RPSG partnered with Falguni Shane Peacock. How has the partnership evolved since it began?

The foundation has only become stronger. We have spent these initial months aligning our long-term vision, strengthening organisational capabilities and identifying opportunities to scale thoughtfully. Most importantly, we've established a relationship built on trust—where creative independence remains fully protected while the business is positioned for sustained global growth.

6. We've seen large conglomerates back India's leading designer labels over the past few years. How do you think these investments will fundamentally change the business of Indian fashion over the next decade?

Institutional partnerships can help transform designer-led businesses into enduring luxury houses. They bring patient capital, governance, access to global markets and operational expertise while allowing designers to remain creatively independent. I believe this shift will help Indian fashion move from founder-led success stories to globally recognised institutions.

7. India has no equivalent of an LVMH or Kering today. Do you see RPSG playing that role in the future by building a portfolio of Indian luxury brands?

Our immediate focus is on building Falguni Shane Peacock into a globally recognised Indian luxury house. More broadly, we believe India has the talent, heritage and creative capital to build brands that command international respect. If we can contribute meaningfully to strengthening that ecosystem over time, it would certainly be an exciting journey.
