Sanya Malhotra dazzled in a chic Masaba ensemble for Diwali, blending comfort and drama. Her embroidered mini skirt and bralette paired with a bold striped jacket showcased effortless festive style. Accessories like chandelier earrings, a maang tikka, and a bird-shaped bag added flair, while sleek makeup and a middle-parted bun completed the look.

It’s that time of the year. When everybody pulls out their festive best—elaborate lehengas, intricately embroidered saris, shararas and ghararas, and deck themselves up like fairy lights. And while we love the drama and maximalism associated with Diwali dressing, we also like our outfits to be easy and fuss-free. After all, not everyone wants to walk around looking like the human embodiment of a Christmas tree, in layers of can-can, and lehengas that weigh 10 kgs; most women like to keep things comfy! If you, too, belong to this category, our pro-tip for curating a look that feels festive while staying true to your effortless sensibilities would be investing in outfits with western silhouettes with traditional embroideries or textiles. Like a strapless column gown covered in zardozi, or an A-line dress with Chikankari embroidery, or a mini dress covered in Dabka embroidery, or even a brocade pant suit! Someone who nailed this aesthetic recently is Sanya Malhotra.

What Sanya Wore

For a Diwali party in Los Angeles, Sanya chose to wear an outfit that felt perfect for the women whose festive dressing moodboard is all about keeping it sexy and comfy, but still very festive. She ditched the obvious choices for an embroidered mini skirt and bralette set from House of Masaba. Her black mini skirt had a little slit on one side, and was covered in intricately-done beaded embroidery work, paired with a matching bralette in similar embroidery. This was paired with a jacket covered in gold and black stripes, and massive pineapple motifs, that lent the look some gravitas, and made it more statement.

Accessories and Makeup

The actor further added some more drama to the look with the accessories. She styled it with gold chandelier earrings with kaan chain from House of D’oro, a dainty maang tikka from Amama, a pair of metallic strappy heels from Aquazzura, and a pair of chunky anklets from Avsa Jewels. Our favourite part about the look though? Her cute little bird-shaped bag covered in mirror-work, from Amama.

For the make-up, she went for a winged eyeliner, a nude-pink lip, some blush on the cheeks, and lots of mascara. And for the hair, she went for a sleek middle-parted bun. Ladies, if you too, are tired of super elaborate festive looks, take a cue from Sanya. You can’t be weighed down by a 20-kg lehenga at your card party, after all!
