For a family that has lived much of its life in the public eye, Boney Kapoor and the late Mona Shourie’s daughter Anshula Kapoor’s pre-wedding celebrations have begun on a surprisingly intimate note.
Ahead of her wedding to screenwriter Rohan Thakkar, the entrepreneur has kicked off the festivities surrounded by her closest family and friends. While celebrity weddings often become larger-than-life productions, the mood here appears refreshingly personal, brimming with blessings and the unmistakable warmth of a family coming together for one of its own.
The first glimpses from the festivities emerged over the weekend as members of the Kapoor family shared photographs from a traditional gathering that marked the beginning of the wedding celebrations.
Arjun Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor, Khushi Kapoor, Shanaya Kapoor, Maheep Kapoor and several other family members were seen attending the event, dressed in festive Indian wear as they gathered to celebrate the couple’s next chapter. Social media posts from family members offered a peek into an evening that felt less like a celebrity event and more like a close-knit family affair.
While the family has not officially detailed the ceremonies that took place, several social media captions hinted at a devotional beginning to the celebrations.
One post shared by Maheep Kapoor carried the caption, “Shaadi begins. Jai Mata Di,” prompting speculation that the festivities may have commenced with a family puja. While no formal Mata Ki Chowki has been confirmed, it’s evident that spiritual traditions have found a place in the celebrations.
For the occasion, Anshula opted for a heavily embroidered beige-and-gold lehenga featuring intricate handwork and embellishments. What stood out, however, was the colourful phulkari dupatta draped over one shoulder, a detail that added character and vibrance to the otherwise muted palette.
She completed the look with layered kundan jewellery, a maang tikka, big full ear cuffs and a sleek bun accessorised with a statement hair ornament. Rohan wore a contrasting and a rather striking shade of red to complement the dupatta of the bride-to-be.
As expected, the Kapoor sisters delivered festive looks worth archiving.
Janhvi Kapoor chose a pink silk sari paired with traditional jewellery, while Khushi Kapoor was spotted in a blush-toned kurta and gharara set accented with emerald jewels. Shanaya Kapoor also embraced the celebratory mood in a white embroidered pakistani suit paired with a mint green dupatta as she joined the family gathering.
Together, the looks reflected the softer, more traditional aesthetic that seems to be defining the celebrations so far.
Perhaps the most touching aspect of the festivities is how family-centric they appear to be.
