Twenty years after marrying in Chennai in 2006, the couple marked their anniversary by exchanging their wedding vows again in an intimate white wedding in Scotland. This time, however, their children Diya and Dev were there to play a special part in it too.
Jyotika fittingly called the celebration “The Sequel”, and that might just be the best way to look at a vow renewal. It isn’t about recreating your original wedding. It’s a chance to celebrate how far you’ve come, dress up as bride and groom once again and make your milestone anniversary feel like an occasion in its own right.
And if their celebration is anything to go by, wedding number two can come with all the fun of the first, including multiple looks.
The ceremony had all the makings of an intimate white wedding. The couple exchanged vows inside a church decorated with white and peach flowers, touches of powder blue and plenty of greenery. Jyotika carried a small pastel bouquet as she walked down the aisle before joining Suriya at the altar.
For her second turn as a bride, styled by Radhika Mehra, Jyotika kept things classic without going predictable. Her strapless white gown mixed textures, with a softly draped satin bodice and overskirt layered over a fitted, shimmering skirt. A long satin train brought the drama, while diamond jewellery and side-swept waves kept the rest of the styling clean.
Suriya complemented her in a white double-breasted tuxedo jacket worn with a white shirt, black trousers and patent shoes. A delicate floral boutonnière picked up the colours of Jyotika’s bouquet and the church décor.
It’s also a clever lesson for couples considering a vow renewal. Your second wedding doesn’t need to look anything like your first. In fact, that might just be the fun of it.
The biggest difference between the couple’s second wedding wasn’t the clothes or ceremony. It was who was standing beside them.
Their children, Diya and Dev, joined their parents for the celebrations, with reports describing them as taking on roles similar to bridesmaid and best man. The wedding weekend for the couple continued with another stunning look. For another part of the celebrations, Jyotika swapped bridal white for a sweeping mauve-purple gown. The off-shoulder neckline, softly gathered bodice and flowing skirt gave it a romantic feel.
Suriya changed from his white tuxedo into a deep burgundy suit with a tonal shirt and brown shoes.

She spoke about Suriya as her equal, confidant, gossip partner and best friend, while also celebrating their journey as parents to Diya and Dev. She signed off with a line that summed up the spirit of the ceremony: “The imperfect us, with the perfect understanding.”
