Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s secretive New York wedding turned Madison Square Garden into a dreamy woodland, announced by purple “JUST T MARRIED” billboards and a glowing Empire State Building. With Adam Sandler officiating, handwritten 20‑minute vows, embroidered handkerchiefs and performances by music legends, the star‑studded yet intimate celebration marked a new chapter for the globally watched couple.

It’s celebration time for the Swifties as their girl Taylor is officially hitched for life with her favourite person, Travis Kelce. And their wedding was every bit special. Instead of a regular wedding announcement, giant purple billboards outside Madison Square Garden lit up with the words “JUST T MARRIED.” At the same time, the Empire State Building glowed blue in their honour, giving a nod to the old wedding rhyme. Then, as if it were straight out of a movie, it started raining over Manhattan.

The wedding marks a whole new chapter for the couple, whose relationship has been in the spotlight ever since they started dating in 2023. While fans have followed every step of their romance, the wedding itself was kept almost completely under wraps. Reports said guests had to sign strict non-disclosure agreements, while security at the venue was as tight as airport screening.

The wedding that had everyone on edge

Celebrations for their big day reportedly kicked off on Thursday evening with a rehearsal event attended by around 100 VIP guests. It was so hush-hush that in the days leading up to the wedding, very few celebrities even admitted they had been invited, and even fewer confirmed they would actually be there.

It was a scene out of a movie outside Madison Square Garden, where fans and photographers gathered for days, hoping to catch a glimpse of details of the big day. And on July 4, watching the arrivals felt less like a wedding and more like every major awards show rolled into one.

Ed Sheeran, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, several Kansas City Chiefs players, Jennifer Lopez, Jimmy Fallon, Selena Gomez, Bradley Cooper, Gigi Hadid, Dakota Johnson, Hugh Grant, Graham Norton, Zoe Kravitz, Jason Sudeikis, Nikki Glaser, Jessica Alba, Chris Rock and many others rolled up in swanky cars for the do.

The TayVis wedding guest list also included music stars like Gwen Stefani, Fergie, The Chainsmokers, Miranda Lambert, Camila Cabello and Benson Boone, along with sports personalities including Mike Vrabel and Erin Andrews.

Despite a scorching heatwave that pushed temperatures into triple digits, fans waited outside the venue for hours.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce spotted together

Taylor and Travis did things their own way

The couple skipped a few wedding traditions.

Taylor’s brother Austin was her “man of honour,” while Travis’ brother Jason Kelce stood beside him as his “best man.”

Both Taylor and Travis wore custom Christian Dior outfits designed by Jonathan Anderson.

One of the biggest surprises of the evening was actor Adam Sandler officiating the ceremony. The comedian, who worked with Kelce in Happy Gilmore 2, reportedly mixed humour with heartfelt moments throughout the ceremony.

“The ceremony was great, moving. Adam Sandler, funny and touching. Vows, everything you would hope for–real, vulnerable, serious and silly, deeply loving,” Good Morning America anchor George Stephanopoulos, who attended the wedding alongside his co-anchors Robin Roberts and Michael Strahan, told ABC News after the wedding.

Roberts and Stephanopoulos also revealed that Taylor and Travis wrote their own vows in “little books.”

Travis was the one who couldn’t hold back the tears and guests couldn’t stop talking about just how emotional he became during the ceremony.

According to reports, both he and Taylor wrote 20-minute vows, reading them from custom gold-bound books. Taylor is also said to have included a short sung moment in her vows.

Guests said Travis broke down within minutes. “You would think the bride would be the one crying more, but it was actually Travis that was more emotional,” an attendee told NBC News.

To help guests through all the tears, embroidered handkerchiefs were reportedly handed out during the ceremony.

Madison Square Garden looked nothing like an arena with several guests being quoted as saying it was completely transformed for the wedding.

The famous arena reportedly turned into a dreamy woodland filled with trees, flowers, ferns and soft lighting. White drapes covered parts of the venue, creating what one guest described as a “Secret Garden you accidentally got invited into.”

Earlier in the week, people had spotted crews bringing in greenery, flowers, giant tree branches and decorative staircases. TMZ even published footage showing huge white staircase railings being lifted into the building.

The entrance reportedly featured photos tracing Taylor and Travis’ relationship from the beginning, taking guests through their love story before they even reached the ceremony.

Taylor also reportedly skipped the traditional walk down the aisle and made a custom stage entrance instead.

Double celebration on Fourth of July for Taylor and Travis!

Inside the celebrations

One of the first looks inside the wedding came through an Instagram post shared by personal trainer Rob Jordan and his wife Joann Jordan.

The couple were photographed walking up an orange-carpeted staircase before entering the venue. Joann later revealed that guests had to hand over their phones at check-in, which explains why hardly any photos from inside have surfaced.

Fans quickly noticed the orange theme because it matched the branding of Taylor’s latest album, The Life of a Showgirl. “It feels like kind of energetically how my life has felt,” Taylor had previously said while talking about the album’s orange imagery.

The reception felt more like a private concert

Once the ceremony ended, the celebrations reportedly turned into an exclusive music event.

Stevie Nicks performed during the evening, something Robin Roberts later confirmed. AEG Presents CEO Jay Marciano also hinted that there were multiple major performances.

Asked about the entertainment, he simply said there were “big ones.” When asked what the highlight was, he replied: “Too many. All of them.”

Several reports also said Sir Paul McCartney performed during the reception.

The menu reportedly featured elevated New York favourites, including sushi, Italian food and roaming small bites instead of a formal sit-down dinner.

Taylor reportedly chose not to perform at the wedding itself. However, reports claimed she and Travis sang a duet together during the rehearsal dinner the night before.

Wedding favours with a Taylor twist

Guests didn’t leave empty-handed. In fact, luxury was the highlight here. Instagram posts shared by singer-songwriter Maren Morris and Ana Demmer showed embroidered handkerchiefs featuring “T&T,” the wedding date, “New York City,” and the famous Blank Space lyric:

“So it’s gonna be forever …”

Guest list packed with famous faces

Around 1,000 guests reportedly attended the wedding.

The list included Steven Spielberg, Selena Gomez, Jennifer Lopez, Jimmy Fallon, Bradley Cooper, Dakota Johnson, Hugh Grant, Zoe Kravitz, Jason Sudeikis, Nikki Glaser, Lena Dunham, Karlie Kloss, Jenny Han, Alison Roman, Jessica Alba, Chris Rock, Mike Vrabel, Erin Andrews, Gwen Stefani, Fergie, The Chainsmokers, Miranda Lambert, Camila Cabello and Benson Boone.

Lena Dunham’s appearance was especially meaningful since Taylor had been one of her bridesmaids back in 2021.

Karlie Kloss also attended, seemingly putting years of friendship rumours to rest.

Even with so many famous faces in one place, guests said the wedding still felt surprisingly personal. “It’s hard to imagine that a place that big and a wedding with such stars could feel so personal and so intimate,” Stephanopoulos said.

“Because they had their neighbors, their high school friends – it was like any wedding that you would attend,” Roberts added.

Although permits suggested the reception would continue until 2 a.m., several guests, including Steven Spielberg, Jessica Alba, Michael Strahan, Tom Brady and producer Max Martin, were seen leaving before midnight.

Family shares a glimpse of the celebrations

As more guests headed home, Taylor Swift’s aunt, Robin Gentry, shared a simple description of what the evening was like.

“They cried, and they laughed and they danced, and they hugged and they kissed,” she told Reuters while leaving the venue.

Guests were also told they were being filmed inside Madison Square Garden, although it is still unclear whether any official footage from the wedding will ever be released.

A spring wedding in the making

Fans celebrated around the world

Taylor’s wedding quickly became a global celebration.

Fans gathered outside Madison Square Garden throughout the festivities, while others in countries including Malaysia and Thailand hosted wedding-themed parties of their own.

Alison Hagen, a 24-year-old actress who also runs Taylor Swift-themed walking tours in New York City, said Taylor and Travis’ relationship has given fans hope.

“I don’t know her, but I feel very happy for her,” she said. “She seems genuinely very happy.”

In Vienna, teacher Lex Dimitrijevic, who is also getting married this summer, said the wedding felt especially meaningful.

“Our lives are completely different, but reaching a similar milestone makes it feel wonderfully full circle.”

“Whether it was the Eras Tour, her reclaiming her music, or now this new chapter, fans genuinely want to see someone who has brought so much happiness to others find happiness herself.”

From a friendship bracelet to forever

Taylor and Travis’ love story began in 2023 after Kelce revealed on his New Heights podcast that he had tried to give Taylor a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it during her Eras Tour stop in Kansas City, but never got the chance.

Taylor later called the move “metal as hell.”

Kelce later admitted he left that concert feeling “mesmerised” and “captivated,” saying he had “such a desire” to meet her.

On the same podcast episode, Taylor explained what convinced her that Travis was the one.

“Travis has had the same friends since he was probably four years old,” she said. “He’s incredibly good at maintaining friendships and is so loyal and his friends are equally loyal and the funniest, most hilarious group of people.”

The couple later made several memorable public appearances together, from Saturday Night Live to Taylor bringing Travis on stage during her Eras Tour in London.

Taylor has also released several songs that fans believe were inspired by Travis across The Tortured Poets Department and The Life of a Showgirl.

When they announced their engagement last August, they did it with matching Instagram posts that read:

“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”

Now, after one of the most talked-about celebrity weddings in years, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have officially started a new chapter together, with a celebration that was as grand, emotional and unforgettable as fans imagined it would be.
