Getting married in her own home was a non-negotiable for Delhi-based digital creator Karmaa Dhingra Dhir. The fashion, beauty, and wellness influencer also wanted the wedding ceremony to be an intimate affair. That was a challenge due to the very extensive guest list that she and her husband Shaurya Dhir tried to contain as much as possible.
“My husband proposed to me at the end of November. Soon after our wedding dates were fixed. The planning phase started in January. We had about three months to plan since our first wedding event was on April 5,” she shares.
A to Z of meticulous curation
Being a type A personality, Karmaa always knew what she wanted in terms of the wedding when it came to aesthetics and details. It was always mapped out in her mind long before the nuptials. “The curation aspect was well taken care of. However, tying loose ends and ensuring my dream wedding comes to life while I enjoy the events and live in the moment was important to me,” she avers. Here’s where Nanki Chawla of Nanki Chawla Events came in. Karmaa’s friend and collaborator–stylist Pranav Goswamy shortlisted some photographers and videographers out of which she liked Mandy (from Light Chamber) and Chitresh the most. When it came to the visuals, it was important for the couple to work with someone who blended into their space. The decor vendor (Jasneet) was brought in through Nanki. For make-up, Shraddha Luthra was an easy choice as Karmaa had worked with her for many shoots. “As for Chandni Malik and Pankaj Sharma, they are two artists I have worked with many times to a point that they have become a part of my work family,” she says.
Trousseau
Being a style savant herself, Karmaa ensured that each outfit and jewellery look was planned out thoughtfully. She started her content creation journey with designer Ridhi Mehra years ago and so it was only befitting to have Ridhi design her first event’s outfit. “She customised a peplum top and sharara for my kirtan. For the dhol night, my mom and I both twinned in Osaa by Adarsh in gorgeous
blue ensembles.” For the sufi night, she chose a Ritu Kumar—a custom piece done by the team that was comfortable to wear and dance through the night. “Ritu Kumar had to happen in the wedding line-up for me given that my mom’s wedding outfit was from the designer back in 1993.” For her pre-wedding reception, she wore a stunning Jayanti Reddy lehenga with a
customised koti so that she could ditch the dupatta, be hands-free and dance the night away. “My mehendi outfit was a custom Masaba lehenga and corset paired with a custom pillbox hat.” Karmaa is fond of hats as accessories, and was glad to include them in her wedding line-up. The jewellery for all these functions was custom made by Vinay Gupta at Shri Paramani Jewellers. “My wedding outfit was by Kresha Bajaj paired with diamonds and pearls jewellery from Dillano Jewels and the Baroque pearl kaleeras were custom made by Mrinalini Chandra.”
Acing bridal beauty
Karmaa spent a considerable amount of time perfecting her skin before the wedding with Potenza Wellness. Dr Madhulika Rustagi, who works at the clinic suggested a conservative yet effective plan for her bridal beauty journey. “We paired some lasers and facials to achieve my ideal bridal skin. I also maintained strict eating habits and focused a lot on Ayurveda, traditional Chinese medicine and supplementing correctly,” she shares.
Beauty rituals
Apart from following a stringent skincare routine, Icing her face every single day was one of the key rituals. “It not only rushes blood to the face and makes your skin glow but also wakes you up. It also helps with minimising pores,” she says.
Music
“It’s a big part of our relationship as well. We knew what we wanted and we found the masters in the business.” The couple had A26 perform at the wedding, and One Empire perform at the reception along with DJs. Food elevated the overall experience. “The Kitchen Art Company are true masters when it comes to the catering business. They even customised menus for us,” she recalls.
Favourite moment
Karmaa and Shaurya danced, as newlyweds, to some old English retro tunes sung by A26, surrounded by friends and family on the wedding day.
How to ace a seamless, stress-free wedding…
The content creator underscores that vendor coordination boils down to the planner that one onboards. “It helps to sit down with your planner and run them up to speed regarding the conversations you have with each vendor or try to get all vendor heads to meet you once with your planner. Spell out all your wants (negotiables and non-negotiables), and let them know what’s essential for you,” she points out.
