This Is What's Giving You the Ick, Based On Your Zodiac Sign

We all have things, rational or not, that immediately turn us off. Here’s what could be yours based on what the stars have to say…

Whether it’s something big (like not believing the Earth is a sphere) or something minuscule  (like taking a bite off a KitKat without breaking off a section like a normal human being), we all have things that give us the ick in a relationship.

Icks, for the uninitiated, are things that make you cringe or turn you off upon witnessing. These don’t have to be dealbreakers (OK, so maybe the KitKat thing is a total no-no) and knowing what’s giving you or your partner the ick can help your relationship grow.

An honest and open conversation about things that turn you off in your relationship is always the best way to go but you could also look towards the stars for a little help in the subject. Here are all the zodiac signs and their biggest icks in a relationship…

    Zodiac signs’ biggest turn-offs

    Aries (March 21- April 19)

    Biggest ick: Lack of drive

The fiery ram seeks adventure and passion in relationships. When they’re met with monotony and a lack of motivation, it’s very easy for them to get turned off. They also hate inauthenticity, so if you’re looking to woo an Aries, get ready to step out of your comfort zone and be yourself.

    Taurus (April 20 - May 20)

    Biggest ick: Instability

Ruled by the planet Venus, Taurus love to indulge themselves with the finer things in life and prefer order and stability over spontaneous adventure. Naturally, someone who has little regard for themselves or their schedule is going to get the boot from them.

    Gemini (May 21 - June 20)

    Biggest ick: Inflexibility

Bright and vivacious Gemini are hard to pin down. The social butterflies of the zodiac do not like when they’re met with rigid schedules and a lack of enthusiasm to try out new things. A Gemini’s partner should know how to keep them engaged otherwise, it’s straight to splitsville for them.

    Cancer (June 21 - July 22)

    Biggest ick: Emotional distance

Moonchild, your warm and nurturing presence seeks a partner that’s in touch with their emotions. Cancerians get the ick when faced with emotionally unavailable people as there’s nothing they like more than connecting to someone on a deeper, more emotional level.

    Leo (July 23 - August 22)

    Biggest ick: Insecurity

Not letting a Leo have their moment in the spotlight while burdening them with your insecurities, is a sure-fire way to kill their interest. Leos want to feel valued in the relationship and showing indifference or a lack of appreciation is a big ick.

    Virgo (August 23 - September 22)

    Biggest ick: Negligence

If there’s one thing you can rely on it’s that a Virgo will have it all sorted. Whether it’s travel plans or paperwork, Virgos have got the art of organising down pat. So when they’re met with negligence or disorder in a person, it’s a big turn-off. Be careful!

    Libra (September 23 - October 22)

    Biggest ick: Aggression

Romantic and lovers of all things classic, Libras are easily turned off by displays of aggression. It could be bad manners, disrespect, or a general lack of sensitivity towards the environment they inhabit. All are a big NO in a Libra’s book.

    Scorpio (October 23 - November 21)

    Biggest ick: Deceit

While dishonesty ranks high on everyone’s list of icks in a relationship, Scorpios find it particularly off-putting when someone is not their authentic self. Open and honest themselves, Scorpios find it cringy when someone is not true to themselves.

    Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21)

    Biggest ick: Realists

So here’s the deal: A Sagittarius knows their plans for the weekend might border on ridiculous and over-achieving. They don’t need you to tell them. They will try it out themselves and, even if they fall flat on their face, learn something from their adventure. Sagittarians hate when people place limits on their ambition with rules and realities. Leave them be!

    Capricorn (December 22 - January 19)

    Biggest ick: Laziness

Capricorns are known to get things done. They are driven, ambitious, and are naturally drawn to people who take their lives as seriously as they do. So when their partner exhibits laziness or a lack of drive, it’s enough to give them the ick.

    Aquarius (January 20 - February 18)

    Biggest ick: Clinginess

Fiercely independent Aquarius are immediately turned off when their partners try to merge their identities. Co-dependence is a big no-no in an Aquarian’s book. They’re drawn to people who have rich and fulfilling lives of their own aside from their relationships.

    Pisces (February 19 - March 20)

    Biggest ick: Pessimism

A Pisces’ mind often takes flights of fancy and their creative spirits tend to roam free. They tend to look on the brighter side of things and be empathetic, even in the face of adversity. A glass-half-empty mentality, therefore, is like a wet blanket for them.

For Manifest to become one of Cambridge Dictionary's most viewed words of 2024 — 1,30,000 hits and counting — it means some of us must have Googled it at least once. I know, I hit that search button over and over again
because each time I looked at it, I saw a new meaning.

Putting together a homegrown title at a time when the demise of print has been long announced may seem surprising...
...but it has long been a dream of mine to give India a magazine it deserves. A magazine that is the country.

And nothing, absolutely nothing, represents India more than our weddings. It is a time when families are brought together. Traditions come alive as they are adapted to each couple's beliefs. And lives are joined in a way that the romantic in me still enjoys.
