Abhinav Mishra is back with his annual couture showcase, this time with a collection that blends traditional Indian grandeur with nature. The collection, titled “Into The Wild”, draws from wild animals the beauty of the wilderness, and amalgamates it with quintessential Indian bridal sensibilities.
Inspired by the untamed beauty of the wilderness, the collection is built around a color palette of warm, earthy hues like browns, ochre, beiges, muted olive greens, and black. Polished silhouettes meet raw, rugged undertones, striking a balance between sophistication and nature’s untamed spirit. The mood carried through to the show, with Anhad & Tanner’s beautiful soundtrack adding depth and drama to the wilderness-inspired narrative.
Apart from the influences from the wilderness, the collection echoed the beauty and poise that Abhinav Mishra is known for. And—because it’s an Abhinav Mishra show—mirror-work was all over the runway. From lehengas with skirts covered entirely in mirror-work, to kurtas with mirror-work stoles, from anarkalis to sherwanis, we saw mirror-work galore. While the collection was centered around lots of beautiful lehengas, it also had a bunch of different silhouettes, including structured jackets, flared pants, wraps, trench coats, corsets, kaftans etc.
Fun fact? Designer Varun Bahl also walked the runway for Abhinav Mishra. After designer Rimple Narula’s appearance on Tasva’s show at the India Couture Week this year, this feels like the beginning of a new trend.
Kriti Sanon closed the show in an intricately embroidered black mirror-work lehenga with a bralette, paired with middle-parted beachy waves, smokey eyes, and shimmery nude lips.
One of our key takeaways from the show has to be the teeny-tiny blouses, or bandeau blouses, to be specific. A bunch of looks featured bandeau blouses, either paired with long structured jackets, or worn as it is. This beautiful silhouette looks fun, effortless, and very sexy.
One of our top trends from the show, though? Men carrying chic, sophisticated, (and may we add, very feminine) batua bags! Mini batua bags, whether hand-held, or worn in a crossbody style, ruled the runway, particularly on men!
There are certain prints that look particularly chic with traditional Indian occasion wear, and any kind of animal print is definitely one of them. Whether leopard print, zebra print, tiger print, or cowhide print, when combined with lehengas and saris, makes the outfit significantly edgier. Exhibit A: these looks from Abhinav Mishra’s showcase.
So, take this as your sign to embrace the beauty of the wilderness this wedding season!
