Pooja Hegde Is Inspiring Us To Dig Through Our Grandmom’s Sari Collection
The actress revisits her ajji’s closet for a recent appearance…
Pooja Hegde loves her handloom saris, but her recent ensemble is something heartwarming. One of the most special experiences in any girl’s life is to dig through her mother's and grandmother’s closet and jewellery collection for outfits and accessories.
Pooja Hegde went digging into her grandmother’s sari collection recently and found a gem.
While gearing up to promote her upcoming movie Retro, Pooja Hegde donned a Kanjeevaram sari that, according to her, is 70 years old and belonged to her grandmother.

The actress took to Instagram to share images in the beautiful sari. “It took me back to the images of my beautiful Ajji (grandma) in her kanjivarams going about her day, the fresh smell of mallige in the house before getting ready to go for a wedding, and the aromas of the wet mangalore mud after the first rains…Oh, the beauty in the simplest things (sic),” wrote Pooja along with the photographs.
The bright green Kanjeevaram sari, with its wide-checked print and violet border, was paired with a violet blouse. Pooja opted for going full traditional with the ensemble and went with gold jewellery and complementary green glass bangles for her accessories.

The simplicity of the beautiful sari was enhanced with her no make-up make-up. She chose to keep the focus on her eyes, which were kohl-lined, and her half-updo hairstyle was adorned with a gajra. A small, dark bindi completed the look.
Take this as a cue to dig through your mother’s or grandmother’s closet for the next wedding you’re invited to!
