Grooms, take copious notes!

You know when it’s meant to be, the Universe will ensure you cross paths. That’s what happened with Prateik Babbar when he met Canadian actor Priya Bannerjee for the first time. Despite being in each other’s vicinity for a long, long time, their paths never crossed until a fateful meeting. Cut to three years later, their bond deepened into a marriage on Valentine's Day.

While their love story is one for the books, it was their style (Prateik’s in particular) that took our breath away.
Styled by Aastha Sharma from The Wedding Style Project, the bride opted for an embellished fishtail skirt styled with a structured corset—a classic Tarun Tahiliani take along with a signature TT drape and veil. The groom ditched the traditional bandhgala or sherwani in favour of a stunning draped ensemble by the designer.
Prateik wore a silk drape shirt. This was seamlessly paired with a pre-stitched charmeuse dhoti that was cinched at the waist with a pleated kamarband. Aastha added a sherwani jacket to the look which featured intricate hand-embroidered chikankari. We also spotted delicate French knots on the jacket which completed the look. Wearing a custom necklace from Khurana Jewellery House adorning Swarovski ivory pearls entwined with floral motifs, and shimmering crystals and finished with a TT charm.

In an Instagram post, the designer shared, “From the moment we met Priya and Prateik, we knew their ensembles had to reflect their fun, natural, and effortless spirit—pieces that felt like second skin rather than weighing them down. What emerged was an extension of who they are, both individually and together—joyous, authentic, and beautiful.”

The ensemble was the perfect example of India's modern groom style, and slightly different from the usual sherwani styles we have seen in the past.
