Winter weddings are incomplete without velvet, and Janhvi Kapoor’s latest photographs are a reminder of why it’s time to bring velvet saris back into the spotlight. The actor turned to rich textures and classic elegance in a custom-made velvet sari by designer Sawan Gandhi, proving that the fabric remains unmatched when it comes to making a statement during the colder months. The deep, plush drape of the sari added a sense of old-world glamour, while the contemporary styling kept the look firmly rooted in the present.

Janhvi wore the ensemble to the NDTV Indian of the Year Awards, where she was honoured with the Actor of the Year award for her performance in Homebound. The appearance felt fitting—both a celebration of cinematic achievement and a nod to timeless Indian craftsmanship. Velvet, after all, has always carried a quiet grandeur, and Janhvi’s look makes a compelling case for its return to wedding-season wardrobes.

The velvet sari had a deep blue colour as its canvas. The sari showcased zardozi work, adding subtle metallic highlights.  The aari work created delicate floral patterns, introducing softness and tonal depth.  Overall, it exuded stately richness and sumptuous warmth, making it an ideal choice for winter celebrations.

The halter neck blouse added to the glam factor.  Focusing on the outfit, the actress opted for a soft-glam look.  Her jewellery consisted of silver pieces, including statement earrings and a stack of bangles, which beautifully completed the ensemble.
