A couple of years ago, the world was divided into two kinds of jewellery enthusiasts. Silver-toned jewellery loyalists, and gold-toned jewellery loyalists. Anyone who wanted to change things up would most probably switch to the occasional, rose gold jewellery. But the one cardinal rule around jewellery stacking and styling was; To keep the colour of the jewellery consistent. If you were to wear silver earrings, then you must only and only wear a silver watch or necklace and rings alongside, and vice versa. But not anymore! Sometime in the beginning of this year, we saw an uprising of our favourite celebrities, influencers and fashion icons mixing metals while accessorising. So, it seems the mixed metal accessorising is the new IT girl technique worth knowing about and trying!

Though we saw glimpses of the trend arise early on in 2023, it became more visible towards the end of last year. Celebrities such as Hailey Beiber, Sofia Grainge and Ashley Graham were spotted wearing silver-toned and gold-toned jewellery together. In fact, New York-based jewellery label David Yurman made it even more apparent when back in September 2023, it made Sofia Grainge their global ambassador. The campaign consisted of stunning photographs of Sofia wearing silver-toned, white gold as well as gold cable bangles and earrings by the label. Most recently though, we've seen celebrities such as Kendal Jenner and Kylie Jenner
Right now, you can consider mixing and balancing a chunky silver necklace with a slightly daintier gold necklace. Or perhaps, if you sport double ear piercings, then consider wearing both
gold and silver earrings. So, also try to mix and match contrastingly weighted jewellery!
