Aishwarya Rai Bachchan lit up the runway at the ongoing Paris Fashion Week for Le Défilé L’Oréal Paris, stepping out in a striking Manish Malhotra creation. The showcase, built around the theme “Liberté, Égalité, Sororité” (Liberty, Equality, Sisterhood), brought together global ambassadors, but Aishwarya’s turn stood out as a true highlight of the night.

Malhotra dressed her in a reimagined sherwani that is unapologetically Indian in detail. Designed exclusively for her, the indigo outfit was structured with a corseted waist and side slits, but its power came from the embellishment: 10-inch diamond cuffs, cascading scalloped strands at the back that recalled a nau lakha haar, and bejewelled animal brooches by Manish Malhotra. He wanted the look to embody the idea of “wearing your heart on your sleeve,” capturing both strength and vulnerability at once.

The sherwani jacket came with a raised bandhgala collar and a subtle split neckline, its front fastened with diamond-studded buttons. Structured shoulders and full sleeves gave it strength, while the side and front slits kept the body-skimming silhouette fluid. She finished the look with coordinated flared trousers, sky-high heels, delicate diamond studs, and a pair of striking rings.

Her styling was kept sharp and minimal, with loose waves, winged liner, and her signature red lip. On the runway, Aishwarya owned the moment with her twirl, her smile, and her flying kiss to the crowd. She greeted fans with a namaste.

Aishwarya also reflected on her 20-year journey with L’Oréal Paris, describing it as a collaboration rooted in empowerment. For her, walking the Paris runway is not just glamour but a celebration of self-worth, in line with the brand’s iconic “Because You’re Worth It’, It is not just a tagline; it is a celebration of self-worth that continues to inspire women everywhere. Tonight, we honour that legacy, reaffirming that every woman’s strength, story, and spirit deserve to be seen and celebrated,” she said.

For Manifest to become one of Cambridge Dictionary's most viewed words of 2024 — 1,30,000 hits and counting — it means some of us must have Googled it at least once. I know, I hit that search button over and over again
because each time I looked at it, I saw a new meaning.

Putting together a homegrown title at a time when the demise of print has been long announced may seem surprising...
...but it has long been a dream of mine to give India a magazine it deserves. A magazine that is the country.

And nothing, absolutely nothing, represents India more than our weddings. It is a time when families are brought together. Traditions come alive as they are adapted to each couple's beliefs. And lives are joined in a way that the romantic in me still enjoys.
