Day To Night: Louis Vuitton’s Capucines Is As Versatile As It Gets
In a special collaboration with Manifest, Alizeh Agnihotri, Mehak Bakshi, and Divya Saini show just how timeless the Louis Vuitton Capucines is.
With your calendar filled with invites and your WhatsApp chat window filled with reminders for RSVP—there’s only one foolproof way to bring the party down during the wedding season—arrive in style. And may we say it is no mean feat to achieve that given we have Haldi, Sangeet, cocktails, and a million other rituals to attend.
Enters Louis Vuitton’s Capucines serving as a rite of passage.
An ode to the House’s first store opened in 1854 on Rue Neuve-des-Capucines near the Place Vendôme in Paris, the Capucines is an embodiment of timelessness. Also, as history tells us, Louis Vuitton went on to become a master craftsman with strong roots in creating the simplest-seeming designs that have longevity. It’s always the classics winning…and The Capucines echoes a similar ethos. Versatility, timelessness, heritage and a practical design is what makes this bag so special.
Crafted with full-grain Taurillon leather and gleaming metal hardware—it is a bag that can be easily described as two-in-one. With its petal-shaped flap outside, the bag showcases the House’s Monogram-inspired flower. When the flap is tucked away, the new LV signature takes the limelight allowing the bag to be styled in two different ways. The Capucines can also be worn as a crossbody or carried by its top handle. The Capucines is such a multifaceted bag that it cannot help but be a conversation starter.
Louis Vuitton and Manifest collaborate with three inspiring women with impeccable style and strong belief systems. These women advocate for issues like feminism, children's education, and sustainability, all while effortlessly serving looks—showing that fashion is anything but frivolous.
Presenting ‘She’s Bagged It!’
Like so many modern women—we earnestly believe we can have it all. We work hard and love to play harder. Especially, during the wedding season there is no stopping us all. But one needs a companion to go through it all…fashionably, to say the least. This is why the Capucines is a trusted match.
In a special Manifest series, ‘She’s Bagged It!’, the trio take us through a day in their lives, showing us how The Capucines can be styled from 9 am to 9 pm effortlessly. In a conversation with Manifest, these ladies also take us through their work, values and what fashion means to them.
Work to Wedding with Alizeh Agnihotri
It’s not easy striking a balance between being critically acclaimed as an actor—with their debut film, no less—and being a fashionista who is constantly on the radar of the crème de la crème of fashion. Alizeh Agnihotri does it quite well. Best of both worlds, if you will. I mean, you can not deny that it’s two different worlds. Not to say that fashion is frivolous. (Seriously, from where I come, fashion is a religion.) But they are the two opposite ends of the ‘actor spectrum’, you can’t deny that.
In a conversation with Manifest, Alizeh takes us through her real self, beyond the phone screen. While social media is a huge part of Alizeh’s life, she vehemently believes that it barely captures who she really is and that she is more than what her Instagram would lead you to believe. “I’m quite selective with my online presence. I actually appreciate that—there's a certain freedom in living authentically beyond the screen.” Speaking of social media's understanding (or lack thereof) of her true self, Alizeh reveals a little-known fact about herself—her favourite hobby is being behind the camera. “I spend days shooting, grading and editing videos for friends and family. I love it. I hope to direct an actual film one day.” A woman who wears many hats, we must say. She also explains how strongly she feels about women’s voices in films, and not just on-screen. As a true advocate of feminism, Alizeh hopes to work with an entirely female crew one day. Now that’s a beautiful wish to have! Alizeh calls her debut film, Farrey, the best decision of her life. “Every time I look back, I can’t fathom how I could accomplish all of that for my first film,” she stated. The self-proclaimed arcade claw machine champion has bagged more than just prizes from the machines—we’re talking about her best debut awards, of course. Safe to say she’s truly “bagged it”—“it” being the crown of the master juggler of impeccable fashion and great acting chops.
What she is wearing: In case it wasn’t clear already, Alizeh can serve a look. She begins her day with a sweet print-on-print moment. And for her second look, she’s seen sporting an elegant Kresha Bajaj outfit with combat boots. Nailing the dual aesthetic, just like the Capucines.
What we love about Alizeh’s Capucines: We love the pearl and link chain detail on Alizeh’s Capucines—perfect to elevate a festive or wedding look!
Manicure to Mehendi with Mehak Bakshi
Our second muse, Mehak Bakshi went from obsessing over Tina’s fashion game in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai as a child to establishing her own DNA for her brand, Koshur. She considers starting Koshur with her sister and mother and witnessing its growth, to be her greatest achievement. In a truly inspiring sentiment, she tells us “I also get to create employment with Koshur, and I find that very gratifying.” Her brand was born from the idea of bringing the craftsmanship of Kashmir to a wider audience. Being fully dedicated to Kashmiri designs, the brand has a strong niche. What’s more, the brand takes pride in being environmentally conscious. Sustainability being a key pillar of the brand, Koshur focuses on sustainable materials and minimum wastage. Mehak describes herself as emotional, spiritual, headstrong, a firm believer of destiny, an advocate of gender equality and animal rights and a lover of all things DIY, among many, many other things. Even her shoots are more DIY than what those professional-looking pictures suggest. “I’m happy to shoot on my own without a photographer and edit my photos,” she tells us. She is successfully juggling both content creation and her brand. It’s no secret that with so many feathers in the cap, she has truly ‘bagged it’.
What she is wearing: True to her style, Mehak is wearing elevated basics from Louis Vuitton for her first look, where she is seen out and about, pampering herself. As she gets dressed for a mehendi, her second look features a red velvet dress from her own brand, which is styled with her beautiful pink Louis Vuitton Capucines BB Bag. We love the cute pop of colour that her Capucines bag adds to the look.
What we love about her bag: The colour! How pretty is the pink! We also really love the two-tone handle.
Coffee to Cocktail with Divya Saini
Coming from a family of doctors and engineers, Divya's decision to pursue a career in fashion set her apart as the black sheep of the family. Nevertheless, she persevered through challenges and went on to achieve her dreams. Divya, the brand momma of Bodements, has a top-notch Instagram game, which is why we would have never believed that she is not a fan of social media—until she told us. “I could go weeks, even months without social media. None of it appeals to me, apart from a few creative pages that create art,” she tells us. She further explains that she feels sad about the fact that artists have this constant pressure to be active on social media and feed their art to other people. She wishes to go back to times when there were no social media and creative individuals could just create in peace. A lesser-known fact about Divya is that she has a penchant for music—she has been learning to play the piano for about two and a half years. She has been learning pieces like the Moonlight Sonata and JS Bach's C major and finds it extremely calming.
We also discover that she feels strongly about giving it back to society, and she walks the walk by integrating sustainable practices into her brand, Bodements. Bodements works with recycled and upcycled fabrics and actively collaborates with various NGOs. For example, they partnered with one NGO to plant ten thousand trees and with another to repurpose textile waste into cute objects, either to be sold with proceeds going to charity or just to be given away as free goodies with their garments. Divya expresses that she feels strongly about children's education and hopes to establish her own nonprofit organization focused on education in the underprivileged areas of the country. She believes that children are magical beings who, when given the right direction, can change the world. Interestingly, she dreams of having a school where 60 per cent of the curriculum focuses on life studies—art, music, culture, and finances—while the remaining 40 per cent covers traditional syllabus learning. She believes that schools need to better prepare children for the real world, as this is currently lacking in the education system. With her beautiful brand standing tall on strong values while creating the most stunning clothing, Divya has really “bagged it”.
What she is wearing:For her 9 am look, Divya is seen wearing a white denim-on-denim look for a fun coffee date with girlfriends. As she transitions into the night, she wears a cool, colourful Aisha Rao set that is complemented beautifully with her green Capucines bag (I mean, what isn’t!).
What we love about her bag: We love that she carried the bag with the flap both tucked in and out. So, which way do you love it more?
