In the landscape of Indian couture, few labels have mastered the art of opulence and maximalism quite like Falguni Shane Peacock. With a design language that balances theatrical drama with meticulous craftsmanship, the brand has managed to create a visual identity that’s instantly recognisable. Not to mention, their designs have an appeal that transcends far beyond India. From collaborations with the likes of fashion stylist and television personality Law Roach, to dressing global icons like Beyoncé and Lady Gaga, Falguni Shane Peacock seems to be well on its way to establish global dominance. As they prepare to showcase at the India Couture Week tonight, anticipation is running high for what Falguni and Shane’s latest offering has in store. In conversation with Manifest, the designer duo talks about what to expect from the upcoming collection, their pre-show ritual, and more.

In conversation with Falguni and Shane Peacock

Manifest (M): Tell us a little about your upcoming showcase at the India Couture Week.

Falguni Shane Peacock (FSP): This season, we’re taking our audience aboard the Orient Express with Le Grand Voyage. The collection follows the Peacock Woman and the Peacock Man as they travel through Rome, Paris, Morocco and Egypt before returning home to India. Every destination leaves behind something, whether it’s architecture, art, textiles or craftsmanship, that gradually becomes part of the collection. At its heart, Le Grand Voyage brings together global influences through Indian craftsmanship, creating a collection rooted in luxury, exceptional handwork and the artistry that defines our couture.

M: If this collection was a piece of literature, a movie, a song or an artwork, what would it be?

FSP: A movie which is a beautiful, illustrated travel journal through life. Cinematically, it carries the romance and grandeur of the Orient Express, where every destination reveals a new chapter. Artistically, it echoes the richness of the Byzantine era, like Byzantine mosaics and Renaissance masterpieces. The joy of discovering cultures and collecting memories becomes a part of our identity as the Peacock Man and the Peacock Woman. That is exactly what Le Grand Voyage is about.

M: On a separate note, have you two picked your own outfits for the show yet?

Shane: Honestly, my job is the easiest; I almost always end up in a black suit. It’s my signature, so I don't spend too much time thinking about it.

Falguni: And I'm usually in some version of a tailored blazer set. We both like keeping it classic because the evening is really about the collection. We usually decide our looks at the last minute, once every detail of the show is in place.

M: Do you have a pre-show ritual?

FSP: The hours before the show are always a mix of excitement and anticipation. We go through every look one last time, check every fitting and make sure every detail is exactly where it needs to be. Once everything is in place, there's actually a sense of calm because by then the collection belongs to the runway.

M: How do you think brides have evolved over the years, and how has that reshaped what they expect from their wedding wardrobe?

FSP: Today’s bride is far more confident in her choices and has a much stronger sense of personal style. She's looking for pieces that reflect who she is rather than simply following tradition. While craftsmanship remains at the heart of bridal couture, comfort, versatility and individuality have become equally important. Brides are now building wardrobes for every celebration instead of focusing on a single wedding look, and they're far more open to experimenting while still wanting every piece to feel timeless. Today’s bride is looking for something different and something collectible.

M: What are your top colours for brides and grooms this season?

FSP: We don't really approach a collection by deciding on trend colours. Every palette comes from the story we’re telling. With Le Grand Voyage, you'll see tones inspired by the places we’ve travelled through, from rich jewel tones to softer neutrals and metallic accents. Ultimately, we always encourage our clients to choose colours that feel personal rather than seasonal.

M: What’s next for Falguni Shane Peacock?

FSP: There are a lot of exciting things in the pipeline, and we're looking forward to sharing them over the coming months.

In conversation with Shivika Goenka

As Falguni Shane Peacock continues to expand its footprint in the luxury couture space, its recent association with the RP Sanjiv Goenka Group seems pertinent. Shivika Goenka, Director of Luxury & Education at the RPSG Group, echoes this sentiment. She talks about this partnership, and Falguni Shane Peacock’s upcoming ICW showcase.

Manifest: This will be Falguni Shane Peacock's first India Couture Week showcase since the partnership. Does that change anything about how this showcase has been approached, compared to previous years?

Shivika Goenka: The creative vision remains entirely Falguni and Shane's, and that has been central to this partnership from day one. What has changed is the ecosystem around the brand. Our role is to provide long-term institutional support that allows creativity to flourish, whether through stronger retail experiences, organisational capability or global expansion. This showcase reflects that philosophy: complete creative freedom, backed by patient capital and a shared ambition to build an enduring global Indian luxury house.

M: What does RPSG want the industry and buyers to take away from FSP's presence at ICW this year?

SG: That Indian couture is not just admired for its craftsmanship; it is increasingly shaping the global luxury narrative. Le Grand Voyage, this season's collection inspired by journeys aboard the Orient Express, shows how Indian artistry can engage with global cultural references while staying deeply rooted in its own identity. If the industry and buyers leave with greater confidence that Indian luxury brands can compete with the world's best on originality, craft and storytelling, we will have achieved something meaningful.

M: How does the RPSG group measure the success of a showcase like this?

SG: Never by a single evening or by immediate commercial outcomes. We look at whether the collection strengthens the brand's long-term equity, deepens its emotional connection with clients and reinforces Falguni Shane Peacock's place in the global luxury conversation. Every showcase should leave the brand stronger than it was before, in perception, desirability and cultural relevance. That is how enduring luxury houses are built.

M: If you had to choose a favourite from this collection, what would you pick and why?

SG: One of the hand-beaded tapestry jackets. It captures everything this collection stands for: the dialogue between cultures, extraordinary Indian craftsmanship and a timeless sense of elegance. It feels collectible rather than seasonal, which is exactly what Le Grand Voyage is about. The most memorable luxury pieces are the ones that become part of your own journey, and this one embodies that beautifully.
