The designer recently unveiled her collection Padmā in Jaipur and is the right fit for the experimental bride…

Vaishali Shadangule has a reputation for combining handlooms and structure in a way that is rare to come across. The Mumbai-based designer has been a regular at the Paris Couture Week for the past three years. In her last collection, called ‘Satori’ (the F/W 2024 collection which was showcased at PCW), the designer gave us a stunning combination of ancient weaving techniques and contemporary elegance.
This time around, Vaishali S showcased her recent collection Padmā, where she used her signature technique of cording in Indian wear. But aside from this, the Mumbai-based designer has incorporated elements of pleating as well as surface embellishment and the natural world in Padmā. Having taken place against the backdrop of Rambagh Palace, Jaipur, the show was a glamorous affair both in terms of its location and the collection being exhibited.
Padmā gave us corded and pleated saris with magnificent sculpturesque blouses that took many forms, from bodices to long kurta-like structures, there was much to marvel over during the showcase. The fashion house worked with weavers from Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal to source their silks and fabrics for this collection, so, many pieces were created using fabrics such as Maheshwari silk. The collection wasn’t just limited to saris. It featured gowns, lehengas, corsets, bodices as blouses and techniques such as applique being used most in interesting ways.
From statement-making colour palettes to experimental blouses, here are the looks that you can add to your wedding outfit lists this season.

If you’re a lover of avant-garde fashion and bold silhouettes are just your cup of tea, this fish-cut lehenga might just be the outfit for your bridal trousseau. Not to mention the bodice construction along with how the leaves have been placed on the blouse are a great way to make a statement.

The colour of this garment is an ode to the Indian bride who loves traditional settings more. The bodice and corsetted detailing, along with the pleated fabric add structure to the garment in a way that plays up the sensuality factor here.

Imagine how this blouse would look in motion; The tassels moving as the one who’s donning the outfit enters the scene. Not to mention the colour is such a huge statement-maker! The blouse along with the border of this sari would leave everyone gobsmacked and is the outfit for any bride who wishes to make her wedding a memorable one. So, if you’re looking for an outfit for your Sangeet ceremony, this vibrant sari may be a good option to dance the night away.

From the colour of this lehenga to the blouse being a mid-waist wonder, along with the puff sleeves and let’s not forget, the star of the show, the pallu of the outfit - this is something that a bride can consider if she wants to keep things mostly traditional, but still have a single contemporary twist in the outfit. And if you’re someone who enjoys wearing bright colours such as orange and tangerine, all the more reason to consider this sari for pre-wedding celebrations.

For those who are looking for a pre-draped sari, this metallic one, with a sexy halter neck blouse and contrasting navy blue border is a perfect choice. Though mostly effortless, the blouse and the different hued border add some visual intrigue to the look.

The rose on the bodice of the blouse (complementing the ones at the hem of the lehenga) is a sure-fire way to ensure your look makes a statement at the wedding or pre-wedding functions. Paired with the pleated dupatta and the striking red hue, this one is a winner.

From the striking electric blue to the cording technique being used in all its glory, this gown is perfect for a cocktail party! What a way to make a statement during your wedding! Right?

For those who are looking for modest outfits, with a creative element to it, this lehenga that is centred around a corded blouse piece is perfect for a haldi ceremony!
