Love To Bag founder Ayushi Kanoi Gupta takes us behind the scenes of how her bags are created and more...

Today, a bag is one of the most covetable accessories to own. It is no longer confined to its functionality but rather defines a person’s individuality. In fact, according to Statista, revenue from handbag sales went up to nearly $65 billion in 2023. It is only expected for the sales to grow exponentially in the next coming decade.
Coming to the fore has been the homegrown label Love To Bag launched in 2011. The bags from the brand are perfect not just for the wedding guest but also for those who are about to tie the knot. You ask us why? Founder Ayushi Kanoi Gupta juxtaposes Indian craftsmanship with contemporary style elements such as beads and crystals to bring about handbags that can be styled with both traditional and Western wear. Having bagged a gold medal from NIFT New Delhi, Ayushi’s innate understanding of what the consumer desires, quality in terms of materials used and the craftsmanship executed is reflected in every piece crafted by Love To Bag.
The brand offers something for everyone across all occasions. Think cocktail, sit-down dinner, sangeetor evenmehndi. They use rich silks, fine beads and crystals that have been imported from various countries to make pieces. Not only that but, the brand is loved by many too. From Malaika Arora Khan to Sonam Kapoor—many have been spotted with Love To Bag iterations.
In an exclusive chat withManifest, Ayushi explains the creative process that goes behind designing these pieces of art.
She says, “it’s very intuitive. We try to follow trends happening in the international space. We aim to be the next best accessory brand in the country. Hence, we try to focus on all details–from silhouettes, sourcing, sampling and materials. Once a collection is designed, we also test the market to understand what the customer wants.”
To create intricate products that people would love to cherish. And when it comes to cherishing the good bits of life, Manifest asked what would Ayushi suggest to a bride-to-be from Love To Bag’s collection and she suggests, “When you are building your collection, add a multi-coloured handbag, even a well-structured flap bag works well because it goes perfectly with both traditional and western ensembles."
The founder also suggests that since the newlywed will have their social calendars filled, it's always a good idea to carry a handbag that's a conversation starter. If maximalist bags aren't your vibe then "neutral metallics like gold silk is a great versatile option to be paired with different outfits," says Ayushi.
With the wedding season just around the corner, Love To Bag is also gearing up to showcase at the FDCI Manifest Wedding Weekend happening on the 3rd and 4th of August at The Taj Palace, New Delhi. Upon asking what she is looking forward to Ayushi says, "I am really looking forward to sharing this platform with other couturiers. Presenting my work amidst other artisanal handcrafted products and designs which are born out of original ideas and designs."
