Sarees from Bollywood movies that have been forever etched in our memories, and rightfully so!

One thing about us? We love saris. And we love Bollywood movies (well, mostly). What we love the most is when Bollywood movies deliver outfits that go down in history as serious fashion moments. Here are the most legendary saree moments in Bollywood movies over the years that have an appeal that transcends time...

Who can forget the iconic song Dhak Dhak Karne Laga with Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit? While part of the credit goes to how cool the song is, we would be lying if we said that Madhuri Dixit's outfit didn't have a role to play. Her iconic orange satin sari draped in a seedha pallu style has left an indelible mark, and rightfully so.

It is one thing to wear an outfit that becomes a moment in history, and it is another thing to wear something that begins to be known by your name. Mumtaz's form-fitting orange sari is one of the most iconic Bollywood outfits of all time. For the song "Aaj kal tere mere pyar ke charche", Mumtaz draped her orange sari in a way that the drape became synonymous with her name. That is real flex, if you ask us.

While Sridevi delivered some serious fashion moments in the 1989 movie 'Chandni' (most of which were ivory), our favourite one is this yellow lace sari as she sang to her lover against the picturesque backdrop of Switzerland.

Making another well-deserved appearance on the list is Sridevi's legendary blue sari from the song 'Kaate Nahin Kat Te' from Mr. India.

You can not talk about iconic sarees in Bollywood movies and leave Sushmita Sen in Main Hoon Naa out of the discussion. Her walking into the classroom in the most stunning saris, with perfectly blow-dried hair, and her folder matching her sari each time might have been a stretch for a teacher, but we were too occupied drooling over her saris to care about that.

Unpopular opinion, but Nisha from Hum Aapke Hain Koun was the OG fashion IT girl character of the 90s, and her outfits deserve much more appreciation. From her iconic green lehenga to wearing ribbons in her hair with lace dresses, Nisha always understood the assignment. Our favourite outfit? This purple sari in Didi Tera Devar Deewana!
Fun fact (because we are such nerds): the sari was originally blue in colour, but the colour seemed to be a dark shade of purple on-screen.

From bringing back the sari craze to popularising micro-blouses, Priyanka Chopra's Desi Girl saree from Dostana just had to make it to the list. You can argue with the wall.

Tip Tip Barsa Paani featured much more than great chemistry; it also had the sari that went on to become one of the most famous saris ever. No one could have thought a plain yellow sari with ruffled sleeves could go down in history, but here we are.
