Experimental, avant-garde and a love for anything with a hint of je ne sais quoi is couturier Rimzim Dadu’s jam. With this ethos, Rimzim has managed to bridge the gap for luxe, ready-to-wear ensembles over the years. Receiving recognition both at home and abroad, Rimzim is the name synonymous with innovation in design language and textiles.

This time, too, she has managed to take it a notch above with her all-new collection called Stucco showcased at The Taj Palace, New Delhi.

The showcase was opened with a live violin performance and the set featured sculptures reminiscent of Renaissance architecture. The models walked the runway in everything that made a statement. The showstopper was Sobhita Dhulipala wearing a co-ord set featuring a bralette that had a baroque cut-out with a long fringe skirt.

Transforming traditional motifs, Rimzim brought together the ornate elements of Baroque architecture with her signature design.  In a statement, Rimzim Dadu said, "In this collection, I have delved into the grandeur of Baroque architecture while fusing it with modern innovation. It is a tribute to the timeless elegance and rich history that inspire my designs. Each piece is a reflection of my journey over the past 18 years, a blend of craftsmanship and avant-garde aesthetics.”

Manifestspotted some of her iconic designs that went back to her first collection. The design delved into the past and amalgamated experiments that have been successful over the years and some that never made it to the runway in these 18 years. As a result, we saw steel wires and metallic yarns alongside traditional zardozi elements. Ensembles were catching the set’s light making the showcase almost whimsical–a classic Dadu aesthetic.

She presented a round-up of exaggerated silhouettes such as lehengas with a touch of contemporary elements, corset tops, and sculptural sarees for women. While for men we spotted standout sherwanis and tuxedos.

The colour palette was fiery, to say the least, as we spotted combinations of deep ruby along with furbished golden colour and burnt orange. Special shoutout to the pair of fringe shoes that are going to live in our minds rent-free.

For Manifest to become one of Cambridge Dictionary's most viewed words of 2024 — 1,30,000 hits and counting — it means some of us must have Googled it at least once. I know, I hit that search button over and over again
because each time I looked at it, I saw a new meaning.

Putting together a homegrown title at a time when the demise of print has been long announced may seem surprising...
...but it has long been a dream of mine to give India a magazine it deserves. A magazine that is the country.

And nothing, absolutely nothing, represents India more than our weddings. It is a time when families are brought together. Traditions come alive as they are adapted to each couple's beliefs. And lives are joined in a way that the romantic in me still enjoys.
