Bhumi Pednekar closed the show for the designer in a golden cape lehenga at India Couture Week 2025...

Day 5 of Hyundai India Couture Week 2025 in association with Reliance brands, an initiative of FDCI, rolled on in Delhi with veteran couturier Ritu Kumar showcasing her signature blend of tradition and reinvention on the ramp. Kumar unveiled her collection, 'Threads of Time', which looks back even as it looks ahead of time, but is rooted in her decades-long legacy backed by the refreshed modern eye of her son, Amrish Kumar.
Actress Bhumi Pednekar turned muse for Ritu Kumar in a golden lehenga at India Couture Week 2025.
The designer's collection, Threads of Time, reimagined the heritage through today’s lens.
The collection featured ornate bodysuits, layered sheers, printed silks, and crystal-draped silhouettes that came together with microprints, vintage florals, jewelled motifs and corseted forms. Each piece became a conversation between past and present. The collection showcased how Indian craft can speak many languages and always holds its ground. The House of Rose is the jewellery partner for the show.
Set against a backdrop of glowing red script and towering terracotta-like horses, Ritu Kumar’s “Threads of Time” runway felt like walking through a living museum.
For Kumar, who has spent over fifty years shaping Indian fashion, this collection is both tribute and testament. “Younger generation's needs are different "Fashion is an evolving thing. It evolves with civilisations as they grow, and needs are different for the younger generation to what they were at one time. So that we will see (fashion evolution) happening all the time," said Ritu Kumar to ANI.

Presented by the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), Hyundai India Couture Week 2025, held in association with Reliance Brands Ltd, will run through July 30 2025. The week will see some of India’s biggest Indian couturiers take the stage, including JJ Valaya, Janyanti Reddy, Rohit Bal, Aisha Rao, Rimzin Dadu and more.
