The FDCI Manifest Wedding Weekend saw a host of lehengas that were full-skirted and ruffled and cowled, are we ready to enter the coming wedding season with these style cues?

Recently as renowned couturiers such as Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna, Tarun Tahiliani, Anita Dongre, and Rimzim Daducame together for the FDCI Manifest Wedding Weekend, we saw a host of couture looks that had us taking notes for the upcoming wedding season.
Along with the trends in blouses, jewellery and menswear during the exhibition, there were also new silhouettes and colours to be explored when it came to lehenga designs for the upcoming wedding season. Here are a few that stood out...

Full skirts have always been a classic with lehengas, so it’s not surprising that we saw many designers keep the silhouette alive with their creations. Couturiers such as Tarun Tahiliani, Sulakshana Monga, Isha Jajodia, Anita Dongre, and JJ Valaya made sure they added the magic of full-skirted lehengas in their collections, and we loved to see it.

Ruffles have been making a comeback to the international fashion scene lately, so it’s not surprising that we’re seeing ruffles also make an appearance in Indian bridal wear. Designers and labels such as Gaurav Gupta, Siddhartha Tytler, and Mynaah by Reynu Taandon have been intentional about including detail in their pieces. Not just in the skirts, but in the mid-section and shoulders, so it seems Indian bridal wear is having a bit of a ruffle moment.

Despite the allure of full skirts, this season, cowl skirts also made an appearance in the recent collections. Labels and couturiers such as Rimzim Dadu, Tarun Tahiliani, and Roseroom by Isha Jajodia gave us some stunning cowl skirts in their lehengas. Which is refreshing to see, especially for the unconventional bride or Indian occasion-wear enthusiast.

As for the colours which were most seen throughout the FDCI Manifest Wedding Weekend, it seems ivories and champagnes ruled this season’s couture. Designers such as Tarun Tahiliani gave us stunning moments of ivory and Jayanti Reddy and JJ Valaya gave us stunning champagne moments. However, this does not mean that we did not see pieces in black, or deeper shades such as reds, simply that ivory and champagne were quite the winning pieces during FMWW.
