Siddartha Tytler’s HyundaiIndia Couture Week collection ‘Caligula’s Feast’ draws inspiration from the tyrannical Roman Emperor, Caligula. The collection embodies his extravagance, larger-than-life persona and his penchant for debauchery. “My creativity thrives on sensuality, darkness, and a touch of the macabre," says designer Siddartha Tytler. No wonder he got inspired by Caligula, who is the personification of cruelty, madness and all things evil.

The ambience and decor were dark and mystical, with a huge table at the centre of the ramp, which was decorated with stuff like candles, flowers, fruits, and old jewellery boxes, in colours like red and purple, giving a very dark and gothic feel, which was fitting, given the theme. This table was hollow in the middle, and the models emerged from the bottom to the ramp through this hollow table. What’s more, there was also a Greek statue of the face of Caligula at the centre. How cool is that?! The backdrop had the scene of the Roman Empire on it. The music also added to the overall darkness of the ambience.

The showstoppers were none other than Malaika Arora and Rahul Khanna. Malaika Arora was all decked up in a beautiful black and gold lehenga with a plunging neckline, while Rahul Khanna wore an embroidered black and gold sherwani. Interestingly, after Rahul walked, all eyes were set on the entrance to see what was (or who’s) next, but instead of coming from the entrance, Malaika walked through the crowd. Extra points for cool choreography!

The colour palette included maroon, emerald, navy blue, and black, which was peppered with metallics. Embroideries were done in crystals, rhinestones, and appliqués.

There were a lot of sheer elements in the outfits, and his signature dramatic silhouettes also were on full display. The collection also featured drapes to die for, for both men and women. Men had stoles that were draped interestingly.

Will this moody colour palette translate into wedding season wardrobes? We can't wait to see!

For Manifest to become one of Cambridge Dictionary's most viewed words of 2024 — 1,30,000 hits and counting — it means some of us must have Googled it at least once. I know, I hit that search button over and over again
because each time I looked at it, I saw a new meaning.

Putting together a homegrown title at a time when the demise of print has been long announced may seem surprising...
...but it has long been a dream of mine to give India a magazine it deserves. A magazine that is the country.

And nothing, absolutely nothing, represents India more than our weddings. It is a time when families are brought together. Traditions come alive as they are adapted to each couple's beliefs. And lives are joined in a way that the romantic in me still enjoys.
