Himani Shah breaks down bridal luxury as timeless, wearable, and actually worth investing in.

    Luxury, but make it classic

Luxury can feel like a closed club, something that you inherit or grow into over the period of time. But for luxury influencer Himani Shah, it has always been more about figuring it out for herself and shaping it into something that actually feels personal.

“Luxury for me now is timeless pieces, no logos, just great cuts, good materials, things that’ll last forever, things I can pass onto my kids, things that are chic, not just expensive. I’ve been working and collecting fashion for so long, but it’s always the timeless pieces I wear over and over again.”

That pretty much sets the tone for how she approaches everything when it comes to fashion. From her wardrobe to bridal styling, for Himani, it’s less about what’s trending and more about what sticks. And when it comes to building a bride’s trousseau, Himani keeps going back to classics rooted in craft.

“I personally love handlooms, the banarasis, the Chikankari, the bhandinis, the stuff that I keep going back to, but also embroideries like zardozi, the classics always stay relevant, unlike that sequins or overtly sparkly outfit you buy. All brides end up buying tons of jewellery that lives in their lockers till another wedding. I would invest in solitaires you can wear every day or watches that become vintage over time.”

It’s an approach that feels both nostalgic and practical. Instead of one-time outfits and heavy jewellery that rarely see the light of day, Himani believes in sporting pieces that live with you, and she is all about those masterful accessories that can be passed down through generations.

And if you’re wondering where to actually spend when it comes to luxury, she doesn’t overcomplicate it. She says, “Buy a Rolex, it never goes out of style. Buy solitaires again, you will wear them more than any other piece of jewellery you own. Bags and shoes will come and go as fashion changes, but these are your investment pieces to last a lifetime.”

It’s clear—some things are just worth it.

However, that said, she’s not saying skip bags or shoes altogether. Just be smarter about them, “Classic colours, comfortable heels in gold or silver, even red. You will use them over and over, don’t get really high heels, nobody cares how tall you are, and you're gonna get so tired wearing them. A mid or a kitten heel is what's gonna take you through the event and post it too.”

So, when you put comfort together with repeat value, Himani believes that you will have the real win.

And finally, on how today’s brides are approaching luxury, Himani sees a big shift happening, “A lot of modern brides are going for traditional pieces. The girls are smarter now; they don’t want just bling or something that they’ll only wear once. A Birkin or a Chanel or a Celine bag would be ideal for the collection, no logos, just timeless classics, maybe a Loro Piana overcoat or an Alaia dress, things that are not the flavour of the season.”

That shift, from flashy to something more thoughtful, is what defines modern luxury right now. Whether it’s a forever watch, a wearable solitaire, or a classic bag from Hermès, Chanel, or Celine, it’s all about choosing pieces that don’t expire.

Because at the end of the day, the best luxury? It’s the kind you’ll still love years later.

For Manifest to become one of Cambridge Dictionary's most viewed words of 2024 — 1,30,000 hits and counting — it means some of us must have Googled it at least once. I know, I hit that search button over and over again
because each time I looked at it, I saw a new meaning.

Putting together a homegrown title at a time when the demise of print has been long announced may seem surprising...
...but it has long been a dream of mine to give India a magazine it deserves. A magazine that is the country.
