Trend Report: Lakmé Fashion Week x FDCI SS 2025

Dolled up hair

You know we love a little drama, and the hair this season was serving a lot of it! We saw some really cool hairstyles on the runway, with a plethora of hair accessories. We saw the hair adorned with practically everything from flowers, ribbons, headgear, caps, scarves, and even what looked like brooches.

In full bloom

Flowers were big on the runway this season—whether in print, embroideries or 3D appliqués. This super feminine trend made its way into a lot of collections. From Samant Chauhan to Rohit Bal, everyone had a maximalist approach to incorporating florals this season. We want our flowers, and we want them big!

Thigh high slits

What could be more sexy than thigh-high slits? Answer: Nothing. Whether with a pre-draped sari, skirt or gown, thigh-high slits instantly take up the glam quotient of an outfit by several notches. This season of Lakmé Fashion Week x FDCI saw a bunch of looks with thigh-high slits, reiterating that this trend isn’t going anywhere.

Fringes

You know that feeling when you’re dancing and your outfit has fringes that dance with you? Solely for that feeling, fringes should never go out of style. Lucky for us, this season of the Lakmé Fashion Week x FDCI saw a bunch of looks with fringes, and we are here for it. BRB, adding this to our bridesmaid mood board right now.

Purple

We also saw a lot of purple this season. All kinds—lilac, violet, and also our personal favourite, the aubergine. Not that I need purple to be in trend to rock it, but it’s good to know that I’m now on trend when I’m wearing my purples!

Sheer

We also saw a lot of sheers this season, particularly on men. Not that we’re complaining. And at the risk of sounding creepy, we can’t have enough of this beautiful trend. On a serious note, it looks lovely when styled correctly, and men should take inspiration.

Honourable mention: One HUGE non-fashion trend we saw this season is designers having influencers walk the runway for them. And if the other recent shows are anything to go by, this trend isn’t going anywhere.

Parul Gulati walked for Urmil, Ankush Bahuguna walked forPawan Sachdeva, Ahsaas Channa for Rashi Kapoor, and Shibani Bedi forAbhishek Sharma, to name a few. Given that we’re fortunate enough to have a lot of great models, we’re not sure we’re a fan of this trend. But the influencer culture is here to stay. So we might as well get used to it.
