Every bride has a vision of how she wants her hair to look on her wedding day. Whether you’re imagining loose, romantic waves or an elegant updo, you want your style to last through every moment—from the ceremony to the dance floor, and even during your send-off at the end of the evening. But between all the dancing, hugging, and weather conditions – umm hello, humidity!, keeping your hair picture-perfect can be challenging. We spoke to celebrity hairstylist Florian Hurel, who shares the season’s most in-demand bridal hair trends and pro tips to ensure your style stays flawless until the last dance.

    Wedding Season Hair Trends 2024

    Effortless waves and layered cuts

One of the most timeless bridal hair trends this season, according to Florian, is the return of soft, effortless waves. "Loose, textured waves give you that romantic and natural look that’s perfect for weddings," he says. "They’re relaxed but still polished, and they work with so many dress styles." These waves can be dressed up or down, depending on the occasion. For brides, this style pairs beautifully with a veil, dupatta or delicate hair accessories like floral pins or even a maang tikka. Florian’s expert tip: “Dirty hair is best for this look,” he says. “Freshly washed hair can be too slippery to hold the waves, so plan your wash a day or two before your big day.” If you’re looking for something a little more structured but still with movement, consider a layered cut. "Layers add volume and create a soft, face-framing effect that’s both flattering and versatile," Florian explains. "Whether you leave your hair down or pin it up, the layers give dimension and life to the style." For added staying power, the hairstylist emphasises the importance of hairspray. “Lots of hairspray!” he says. "You want to lock in those waves and curls so they stay bouncy through all the dancing and celebrations."

    Sleek hairstyles

For brides who prefer something sleek and modern, Florian recommends the classic ponytail—this season’s must-try for wedding looks. "A sleek, high ponytail is incredibly chic and makes a strong statement," he says. "It’s perfect for a bride who wants to keep things elegant but with a modern twist." To ensure the ponytail stays smooth and in place all night, Florian advises using a fine-tooth comb and a lightweight gel to tame flyaways. "You want that mirror-like shine," he says. For brides looking for a more understated approach, a low, sleek bun offers an equally stylish alternative. "It’s timeless and works well for both traditional and modern weddings," Florian adds. His tip for keeping these styles intact? “Add volume at the crown,” Florian suggests. "Even with a sleek look, a bit of volume at the roots will prevent the style from falling flat throughout the day." A volumising mousse or backcombing before securing the style can make all the difference.

    Curtain bangs and romantic updos

Curtain bangs are another trend making waves this wedding season, and Florian believes they’re the perfect addition for brides who want a bit of soft framing around their faces. "Curtain bangs are effortless and blend seamlessly into almost any hairstyle, whether you're going for an updo or wearing your hair down," Florian says. For brides opting for updos, Florian suggests romantic, textured styles that don’t look too “done.” "Messy buns or loose chignons are perfect for brides who want something polished but not too stiff," he says. The beauty of this look lies in its versatility. "You can wear it with a veil, and as the night goes on, it still looks beautiful if it loosens a bit—it becomes more effortless." Accessories play a key role in elevating these looks. "Last-minute additions, like jewelled pins, flowers, or a delicate headpiece, can make your hairstyle feel more bridal," Florian shares. His advice?“Recruit a lovely accessory” to make your style uniquely yours.

Whether you're a bride-to-be looking for that perfect wedding hairstyle or attending as a guest, these expert tips will keep your hair on point all season. From effortless waves and sleek ponytails, these trends will help you stand out at any wedding or festive event!
