Hair regret is real, whether you’re royal or a commoner!

The world might have fawned over Princess Diana’s wedding look and continues to do so decades later, but the late royal wasn’t fully happy with how she looked during the ‘Wedding of the Century’.

Diana’s former hairdresser Richard Dalton has made some surprising revelations in his new book It’s All About The Hair- My Decade With Diana, which he co-wrote with the curator of The Princess Diana Museum Renae Plant. In the book, Dalton shared that Diana thought her hair on the wedding day was a “disaster”.

Princess Diana married then-Prince Charles at St. Paul Cathedral on 28 July 1981, in one of the most extravagant ceremonies in history. The beloved royal wore a silk taffeta dress by David and Elizabeth Emanuel which featured a record-breaking 25-foot-long train and thousands of pearls stitched all over it. Her make-up was kept fresh and natural and her short hair was styled with a blowout and topped with the heavy-duty Spencer Tiara.

In an interview with People, Dalton revealed that he wasn’t directly responsible for the wedding hair and was substituted by his co-worker Kevin Shamley for the ceremony. He also shared that Diana wanted a re-do of her hair after the wedding to “get it right”.
Aside from this surprising revelation, Dalton’s book offers new insights into one of the most iconic figures of modern history. He details that while the wedding hairdo might have missed the mark for the royal, Diana loved experimenting with her hair and accessories like flowers.
