The singer’s bombe cushion-cut diamond ring has captured the internet’s attention…

When Miley Cyrus stepped onto the blue carpet at the Avatar: Fire and Ash premiere on Monday, the internet zoomed in. What fans spotted was a glint of gold and fire on her left hand, confirming her engagement to musician Maxx Morando after 4 years of dating. The couple, who first met on a blind date in 2022, have been inseparable ever since. And now, there is a ring to match the romance.
Miley’s engagement ring is a custom 14-karat gold creation by Los Angeles–based jewellery designer Jacquie Aiche, whose pieces are synonymous with bohemian luxury and celebrity collectors. The star of the design is a four-carat elongated cushion-cut diamond, set east–west in a rounded bombe bezel. The result is a ring that feels sculptural and intimate. It is the kind of heirloom-in-the-making piece that looks as if it has travelled through time.

The bombe ring itself is a throwback to mid-century French jewellery, reimagined here with Aiche’s fluid, organic sensibility. On Miley, it feels both modern and nostalgic with a soft, glowing contrast to her usual rock-chic aesthetic.
This year has seen a stream of celebrities choosing shapes and unconventional engagement rings that feel more reflective of personal style. Samantha’s portrait cut ring made by Theodoros Savopoulos fit that shift perfectly, joining a growing list that includes Dua Lipa’s asymmetric diamond. Instead of the expected solitaire, she debuted an asymmetrical, architectural diamond set on a curved band. It mirrors the new wave of brides who want a ring that feels intentional, expressive and slightly off-beat.
Charli XCX, meanwhile, went the opposite direction with a classic round diamond but paired it with a non-traditional wedding band that wraps around the stone, creating a stacked effect that feels playful and subversive. And then there was Taylor Swift, whose cushion-cut diamond ring was a romantic, softly faceted and set in a vintage-leaning mount.
Miley’s ring sits somewhere between these extremes. It is classic in shape, unconventional and deeply personal in mood. The east–west setting creates subtle movement across the hand, while the bombe styling gives the diamond a protective, cocooned look.
