Best Jewellery Moments of 2024
Nita Ambani's Emerald Necklace
Nita Ambani's gobsmacking emerald necklace was a showstopper during Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant's wedding celebrations. Studded with two veritable emerald bricks and surrounded by diamonds—the necklace became the talk of the online town. People commented, funnily enough, that the necklace is possibly worth the GDP of a small nation and that led to a spike in Google search queries for the meaning of GDP (gross domestic product).
Isha Ambani's bejewelled blouse
Designed by designer duo Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla and conceptualised with Anaita Shroff Adajania, Isha Ambani wore a blouse handcrafted with real Jadau jewellery for the pre-wedding festivities of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant. While there were pieces which belonged to her collection. There were also jewels sourced from Gujarat and Rajasthan. Featuring different stitches of gold and silver zardozi work, the piece was reminiscent of Abu Sandeep’s collection of bejewelled blouses that were featured in their 2012 book, India Fantastique.
Rihanna in Manish Malhotra and Sabyasachi
Rihanna, for the launch of Fenty Hair, was seen shining bright in jewellery pieces crafted by Indian designers Manish Malhotra and Sabyasachi. She opted for a three-drop rubellite, tourmaline and brilliant cut diamond necklace from Sabyasachi High Jewellery. She went for a ruby choker from Manish Malhotra Jewellery which was crafted in 18k gold and featured custom-cut rubies encrusted in diamonds
Cartier unveiled a new high-jewellery collection
It is no secret that Cartier has always loved the wild and through its new high jewellery collection, the commitment to championing the adoration has been cemented. Our personal favourite from the collection is the Koaga necklace, a zebra holds an emerald-cut diamond and a 6.25-carat pear-shaped rubellite in its mouth.
Selena Gomez's marquise engagement ring
Benny Blanco truly made Selena's lyrics from the song 'Good For You' come alive with this engagement ring. Inevitably, the ring got people talking. The centrepiece is a marquise-cut diamond, set on a chunky yellow, pavé gold band. Fun fact about her ring: this diamond style is rare, making up less than 5% of all diamonds. In fact, the roots are royal as it was first created for King Louis XV of France in the 18th century.
Kareena Kapoor for Bvlgari
Kareena Kapoor Khan has left no stone unturned in ensuring everyone's feeds are filled with her stunning looks. Recently, at a Bvlgari event in Dubai, Kareena was seen in a pink gown that set the stage for Bvlgari's high-jewellery Serpenti necklace featuring pear spinels, a rubellite and three different cuts of diamonds from the Aeterna collection.
Aditi Rao Hydari's Toi Et Moi Ring
Aditi Rao Hydari’s Toi et Moi solitaire engagement rings made quite the headlines when she and Siddharth announced their engagement on Instagram a few months ago. Designed by Hyderabad-based Andal Gems & Jewels, the ring's meaning translates to ‘you and me’.
Cardi B in Kamyen Jewellery
Only Cardi B could pull jewellery that would make the royals gasp too. After all, she swears by the philosophy of "the bigger, the better". For this year's 2024 Met Gala, she paired her jewellery with a black tulle gown. The necklace making a strong case featured a 141-carat Colombian emerald by the Indian jewellery house Kamyen. Founded in 2010 by Pooja Gandhi, Kamyen operates across multiple locations worldwide and has an exclusive approach for its clients.
Aga Khan emerald, the world's most expensive stone, goes under the hammer
In November, a rare square, 37-carat emerald owned by the Aga Khan fetched nearly $9 million and was sold by Christie's. Touted to be the world's most expensive emerald, this was a wedding gift by Richard Burton given to actor Elizabeth Taylor. "The gem was unearthed in Muzo, a Colombian emerald mine about 60 miles north of what is now Bogotá", shared a Christie's spokesperson in a public quote.
JLo in Tiffany & Co’s Blue Book high jewellery
Jennifer Lopez for the Met Gala wore Tiffany & Co.'s Wings necklace which is a part of their new high jewellery collection. Carved in platinum and 18k gold with a 20-carat oval diamond, nobody could take their eyes off and one of the users even wrote, "She looks stunning.. Those lines make that artwork, a masterpiece of craftsmanship find its place to glow"; that, not an immature soul can do", and we couldn't agree more.
