Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s pre-wedding festivities are turning out to be a major part of the global pop culture landscape. Everything from fashion to the roster of celebrity performers will probably be discussed long after they’re over as a reference to what an iconic and lavish wedding looks like.

The entire Ambani family has clearly been showing up with their A-game in terms of the outfits and jewellery.

Remember the stunning emeraldhaarthat Nita Ambani wore during the Hastaksharceremony in Jamnagar earlier this year?

In fact, it seems many of the Ambani family members are known to don some pretty memorable emerald jewellery. Let’s take a quick look at all the iconic pieces we’re talking about.

Emerald Jewellery worn by the Ambanis

The Ambanis’ penchant for emeralds snuck up on us very slowly. It started with Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta’s wedding. Both wore striking, tiered necklaces for the event. Where, allegedly, Shloka’srani haaris said to have cost INR 3 crore.

A couple of years down the line, we then witnessed the opening of NMACC, where Nita Ambani wore a brilliant diamond necklace with tear-drop emeralds hanging off it. But that was not all, she’s continued donning emerald necklaces and jewellery on many important occasions since.

The first piece was with a blue sari that had intricatezariwork done on it during the NMACC opening.

The second, was when Nita Ambani decided to wear a Kanjivaram sari with a tiered emerald necklace. Just how elegant does this gold and green combination look?

Next up, was this humongous double-emerald pendant and diamond haarthat she wore for the Hastaksharceremony of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant. The philanthropist and entrepreneur paired this INR 400-500 crore piece with a handloom Kanchipuramsaree.

You couldn't have missed this look even if you tried! Because everyone was discussing the necklace, it was the talk of the town.

As you can see, the Ambani family has kind of made an art form out of wearing emerald jewels. Not only has Nita Ambani continued to wear the gemstone for significant public appearances, but her daughter Isha Ambani has done the same.

During the opening of NMACC, Isha wore two outfits with the same emerald necklace.

Once with a sari, and again with a custom Lajoo sharara set.

Aside from this, Isha has most recently worn several stunning outfits for Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant's pre-wedding celebrations.

The first was this vibrant Arpita Mehtalehenga-sareeshe wore with a chunky necklace, maang tikaaand earrings tothe mameruceremony.

Following this, she wore a stunning emerald choker and drop earrings with a Manish Malhotra lehenga.

The second outfit was a Falguni Shane Peacock lehengapaired with the same choker set above.

Sure enough, several years from now we'll look back at and take style cues from the Ambani family about the classic emerald and how fetching it looks on most Indian complexions. Not to mention the regalness that it adds to an outfit.

The green gemstone is having its day in the sun and we can't wait to experiment with emerald jewellery ourselves this wedding season.

For Manifest to become one of Cambridge Dictionary's most viewed words of 2024 — 1,30,000 hits and counting — it means some of us must have Googled it at least once. I know, I hit that search button over and over again
because each time I looked at it, I saw a new meaning.

Putting together a homegrown title at a time when the demise of print has been long announced may seem surprising...
...but it has long been a dream of mine to give India a magazine it deserves. A magazine that is the country.

And nothing, absolutely nothing, represents India more than our weddings. It is a time when families are brought together. Traditions come alive as they are adapted to each couple's beliefs. And lives are joined in a way that the romantic in me still enjoys.
