  • With evolving times, our relationship with fashion has changed. And so has the game of jewellery. Exactly a decade ago the jewellery industry seemed different than it is today. Earlier, the emphasis on designs and features was influenced largely by tradition and heritage. This was the kind of jewellery that ruled the market.

Cut to 2024, and there's been a clear shift. There is a crop of women-led jewellers who are leading the movement on making fine jewellery that's both special and wearable. Scroll down to learn their history, the powerful ladies behind it and what makes them remarkable...

    Women-Led Indian Jewellery Brands

    Irasva Fine Jewellery

Featuring modern designs with a hint of traditional motifs peppered across designs, the brand was founded in 2019 by Leshna Shah. The word Irasva emerges 'Ira' which means love and 'sva' capturing the essence of self-love. The brand doesn't just believe in offering a product and transactions but ensures the new customers that come to them are the ones who stay loyal to Irasva even after generations to come. The founder's strong sense of design and manufacturing has propelled her to make jewellery with subtle impact but also something that people would love to sack and wear every day. You'll find multi-dimensional pieces and lots of diamond andjadaupieces.

    Sethi Couture

Sisters Pratima and Prerna Sethi founded Sethi Couture in 2009. The San Francisco-based brand is well-known for its exquisite, classic, and adaptable rings that are a joy to stack! Since their early childhood, the sisters have been surrounded by jewellery.Their parents are avid collectors of uncommon diamonds. The sisters became fascinated with and gained an appreciation for the ability of jewellery to honour the past, present, and future. Pratima and Prerna are inspired by their Indian heritage and aim to highlight the natural beauty of coloured and rose-cut diamonds to create pieces that are nothing short of heirlooms.

    Maison De Nura

This homegrown brand was founded in 2022 by Devika Prakash Sharma and Neha Puri. Featuring avant-garde designs, the brand is based in New Delhi. and Accessory brand from Delhi, India. The duo have a passion for crafting vintage designs too and they aim to create products which harmonise modern and traditional design sensibilities while ensuring they serve you the best in terms of quality. Maison De Nura has skilled craftsmen employed from Delhi, Jaipur and Meerut to conceive designs using their generational techniques and heritage. Our personal favourite are this pair of handcrafted earrings crafted in silver and featuring amethyst.

    Ananya Fine Jewellery

The jewellery label that launched in 2916 appreciates the beauty of gemstones. Harnessing the healing power of gemstones Ananya launched her signature Chakra collection. The jewellery from her label is easily customisable as per the gemstone preference and helps address chakra blockages. Every piece is meaningful in its own way... And the designs are simple yet help add a pop of colour to an otherwise minimalist ensemble.

    Dillano Jewels

Chitwn D Malhotra has been spearheading Dillano Jewels since the age of 21. With a Diploma in Jewellery design from the prestigious Gemological Institute of America (GIA), she has always been intrigued by jewellery and blending exquisite craftsmanship to showcase the beauty of nature through jewellery that's elegant and timeless. Her collections are inspired by delicate florals fauna...a big trend that took us by storm this year. Turn to the brand for statement pieces. They are big on them (no pun intended!) and are also known for uncut, raw polki designs which will be loved by brides all year round.

For Manifest to become one of Cambridge Dictionary's most viewed words of 2024 — 1,30,000 hits and counting — it means some of us must have Googled it at least once. I know, I hit that search button over and over again
because each time I looked at it, I saw a new meaning.
