The penultimate day of the Lakme Fashion Week saw Aikeyah’s Bazaar, a collection that was tailor-made for the kind of bride who appreciates femininity, intricacy, and the finer things in life. The collection featured lots of Aikeyah’s signatures—3D roses, cropped ghagras, tiered lehengas, and gota patti.
The showcase opened with a beautiful, blingy dull gold lehenga with an intricate floral texture all over it. The styling for the look was also quite interesting, with red acting as a focal point, with red shoes, red bag, and a stack of red bangles. This was followed by a bunch of gold outfits, and a deep red lehenga with white embroidered roses. The collection then moved a deep purple, with a multi-layered cropped lehenga and corset set. Our favourite however, was a gold tiered lehenga, which was paired with matching corset, dupatta, and a bib. The layers on the skirt moved beautifully as the model walked the runway. This was followed by a subdued ivory lehenga with Gota Patti work on the skirt, textured flowers on the blouse, and a dupatta with fringes on the border.
We also saw some easy, effortless silhouettes, like dresses paired with coats and draped kurtas paired with jackets. The saris felt exquisite yet easy, with their signature intricately embroidered roses, and relaxed capes. Another look that really stood out was an easy multi-layered lehenga in the most beautiful shade of Rani pink. It had a plain flowy skirt with Gota Patti detail, and a textured blouse covered in roses. The look felt bold, beautiful, and very Barbie-coded.
At its core, Bazaar celebrates romance, colour, and effortlessness. This collection (or Aikeyah in general) is not for the kind of bride who likes to dress up like a Christmas tree. It’s for the kind of bride who likes to keep things chic, elegant, and very nonchalant. It’s for the kind of bride who is a romantic at heart, and likes to embrace it in an unconventional, unexpected manner.
