It is no secret that Alia Bhatt loves minimal, glam looks. Whether it was her wedding day or promotional runs for her movies, you would rarely find her straying away from the natural, no-make-up, make-up look that has become her (unofficial) trademark.

A recent appearance at Manish Malhotra’s annual Diwali bash caught everyone’s attention, and not just because she re-wore the lehenga from her mehndi ceremony! Alia upgraded her go-to minimal make-up look with a few additions that instantly made it perfect for beauty lovers who want to experiment with this festive and wedding season without going OTT.

Alia sported a clean, glowy base, rosy blush, shimmery pink lipstick, neatly groomed brows, and brown smokey eyeliner. The look was finished with many coats of mascara and statement poli earrings that framed her face.

We loved how easy it was to recreate, as it is equal parts muted and has just the right hint of sparkle.

Our favourite bit is how her freckles show, imparting a natural finish to her overall look.

Begin with a strobe cream or a thick moisturiser, and massage it into your face using circular motion. If you have really dry skin, a face oil would do the trick too.

Beauty In Everything Illuminating Face Oil (buy it here)

Alia’s skin almost looks poreless—to recreate the same, use a pore-filling primer on the T-zone to blur out the pores.

Shiseido Synchro Skin Soft Blurring Primer (buy it here)

Using a beauty blender dab a tinted moisturiser or a serum-based foundation into your skin. Next, use a cream bronzer to add warmth to your face, and blend it using a stiff brush.

Smashbox Halo Healthy Glow Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum (buy it here)
Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Multi-Use Creamy Bronzing & Sculpting Stick (buy it here)

Follow up the bronzer by using a cream or a velvet blush such as Simply Nam’s Velvet Cream Blush in the shade Partner In Crime on the temples of your face. Using a beauty blender, dab it on your nose for a sun-kissed effect.

Set your face with a loose powder but only in places where you know you will crease–such as your under eyes, laughing lines near your chin and the forehead (in case, you have an oily T-zone)

Here comes the main bit, the eyes: Pick an eyeshadow palette that has both pink and brown tones. A foolproof palette that will come in handy is the Huda Beauty Naughty Nude Eyeshadow Palette.

Apply a wash of light brown colour all over your eyelids and then focus the same colour on your crease. Next, use an eyeliner brush and use the deep, chocolate brown eyeshadow and line your eyes. You don’t have to be particularly careful about it because it has to be smudged later to give it a smokey eyeliner effect.

Fill in your brows with a micro-tip eyeliner pencil to emulate natural eyebrow hair-like strokes.

Benefit Cosmetics Precisely, My Brow Detailer Eyebrow Pencil (buy it here)
Givenchy Prisme Libre 4-Color Loose Powder (buy it here)

On the high points of your face such as your cheekbones, eyebrow bone, and cupid’s bow, apply a highlighter.

Stila Cosmetics Heaven's Hue Hydro-Luminator in Light Catcher (buy it here)
Charlotte Tilbury Big Lip Plumpgasm in Medium (buy it here)

Finish the look by using an illuminating face spray and a mauve pink lip gloss.

For Manifest to become one of Cambridge Dictionary's most viewed words of 2024 — 1,30,000 hits and counting — it means some of us must have Googled it at least once. I know, I hit that search button over and over again
because each time I looked at it, I saw a new meaning.

Putting together a homegrown title at a time when the demise of print has been long announced may seem surprising...
...but it has long been a dream of mine to give India a magazine it deserves. A magazine that is the country.

And nothing, absolutely nothing, represents India more than our weddings. It is a time when families are brought together. Traditions come alive as they are adapted to each couple's beliefs. And lives are joined in a way that the romantic in me still enjoys.

The fact that it comes with band, baaja and baraat — what's not to love? And that is the reason our first issue celebrates:
    THE NEW BRIDE.
