The Indian sari makes for stunning festive dressing for sure, but sometimes all you need is a single accessory to take it into that statement-making mode. Bollywood actor Sara Ali Khan did just that recently when she paired her vibrant yellow silk saree with a statement waist belt at Kalyan Jewellers’ Navratri celebrations. It made a compelling case for reworking the classic festive staple and churned up the fashion buzz, too!

What the saree was about?

Sara’s look was designed in collaboration with Manish Malhotra and The Royal Knot and was styled by Tanya Ghavri and Maneka Murali. The bright yellow silk drape featuring intricate pink and gold borders, styled with the pallu neatly pleated on the shoulder. She teamed her saree with a half-sleeved blouse in a matching hue with embellishments on the sleeves, including peacock motifs and pretty pink tassels. It also had a scoop neckline. What was really interesting, is how Sara wore a traditional belt to accentuate the traditional silhouette.

She added a choice of stunning gold jewellery with emerald accents, and a pink flower in her hair to complete her look.

Painting it Yellow

It’s not the first time the actor has rocked it this hue. She wore a graceful sunshine yellow saree, also by Manish Malhotra, for the Zara Hatke Zara Bachke trailer launch. It was embroidered with floral motifs and featured golden patti borders.

And last Diwali, Sara wore a yellow anarkali suit with a doriya dupatta from the label Bunaai and shared a number of photos of herself and her brother Ibrahim Ali Khan.

It sure makes the case for bridal Haldi or Diwali dressing, whatever comes first for you!
