Falguni Shane Peacock has proved time and again that the sheer drama and opulence that their creations offer are unparalleled. Combine that with impeccable craftsmanship, and what you get is a brand DNA that makes for one of the most coveted design houses.

To say that Falguni Shane Peacock has also been embraced globally would be an understatement. Whether it was their collaboration with stylist extraordinaire Law Roach, or being worn by the likes of Beyoncé and Lady Gaga, Falguni Shane’s brilliance is a topic of conversation globally.

In a conversation with Manifest, Falguni Shane Peacock walk us through some of the key moments in their journey over the years…

In Conversation With Falguni Shane Peacock

Manifest: Tell us about your collaboration with Law Roach.

Falguni Shane Peacock: Our collaboration with Law Roach has been an exciting one because Law was involved in design too, with us. Law has this incredible ability to elevate fashion with a sense of drama and narrative, which aligns perfectly with our design philosophy. He has a visionary approach to an outfit. We have worked with law in the past, we connected when he came to India, and then we took our casual chat a bit more seriously on calls and a lot of Zoom calls, and it was clear that our aesthetics resonated deeply. Working with someone as globally renowned as Law for our comeback show at the New York Fashion Week allowed us to experiment and push creative boundaries. Together, we’ve created some really memorable looks that celebrate individuality and stand out on the global stage!

M: How did it feel to have returned to New York Fashion Week after 8 years?

FSP: While our debut in the fashion world was in India about 20 years ago, we immediately shifted our focus towards the international markets as we sensed that our design sensibilities were more appealing and well-received in the West. After successfully showing at the London Fashion Week, New York Fashion Week, Los Angeles Fashion Week and Miami Fashion Week, we made a calculated decision to make our presence felt in India the same way we did internationally. We wanted to strengthen our foothold in the Indian market and enter the Indian couture and bridal market. So around 2015 was the last we showed at New York Fashion Week. We returned to India with a strong vision and plan and focused on setting up our flagship stores in every big city in India.

But now, the vision with which we returned to India has materialised over the last 8 years and nine stores and an office in New York with our COO and our global sales director running our New York operations. We were ready to take on international runways and come back to the fashion weeks—as that was something we’ve had at the back of our minds for some years now.

M: How is showcasing your collections on international runways different from doing it here?

FSP: Showing on international runways is definitely a brand boost because we are showing with the biggest brands of the world, and they push us to be better and more creative, in India, when we show at (FDCI Hyundai) India Couture Week, we again show with most of the design legends, and again, it pushes us to work harder and be more creative, so I guess there’s no difference; only the collection changes according to the runway show we are doing.

M: You have dressed some of the biggest names in the industry, like Kim Kardashian, Beyoncé, and Lady Gaga. Tell us about that, and do you have a favourite muse?

FSP: It all started with Fergie’s team reaching out to us for dressing her for the FIFA World Cup performance back in 2010. That marked the beginning of our fashion camaraderie with international celebrities. Firsts are always special, even more so when the association continues. The lead Black Eyed Peas singer wore a custom-made FSP couture outfit for multiple occasions, including the appearance at Good Morning America, winning an award at the AMA’s, a perfume commercial, and for the cover of the Black Eyed Peas music album. And it just never stopped. Whether it was dressing Kim Kardashian for the world’s first 3D magazine, Britney Spears’s music videos for her comeback, or Beyoncé for her music video or her red carpet looks.

M: How does it feel to have your work be recognised globally?

FSP: It feels surreal because when we started out, we knew that this is where we wanted to be, and had a crystal clear vision for the brand. What we see is a culmination of 20 years in the making, and now that we have our Indian market and the US quite secured with an FSP headquarters, we are looking to set foot in Paris, and soon maybe we should have an office, a store, and a showroom in Paris.

M: How has the brand evolved over the years?

FSP: I guess with time we learn a lot from our mistakes and calculatively correct our decisions, I guess now with a CEO, COO and global sales director in New York, we leave the major business decisions to the management and focus on creative development, brand expansion, and experiences. I feel we personally have also evolved, and so has our creative process over the years.

M: Do you both have creative differences sometimes?

FSP: As professionals, we do have our fair share of creative differences regarding our designs, campaigns, etc. But at the end of the day, it’s all about the brand. We both evaluate whose suggestion/feedback/opinion would work best for the brand and go ahead with it. When you have the same goals and are on the same journey to achieve them, it’s easy to find a way through such differences.

M: You recently opened your first luxury prêt store at The Dhan Mill. Tell us about your pret line.

FSP: Our prêt line is an extension of the Falguni Shane Peacock DNA—bold, innovative, and luxurious, yet with a focus on everyday elegance. It’s for those who want to infuse high fashion into their daily wardrobe. With this line, we’ve combined contemporary silhouettes with intricate details, keeping versatility and wearability in mind. From sharp tailoring to playful embellishments, the prêt line reflects our signature style but caters to a more relaxed, ready-to-wear market.

M: Your new prêt store is designed by Gauri Khan. Despite it being for your prêt line, it’s a very opulent space. Tell us about the decor and how has it been collaborating with her.

FSP: Gauri has a unique talent for merging opulence with subtle sophistication, and this store is a perfect example of that. Even though it’s our prêt line, she infused the space with a sense of luxury that complements our brand’s ethos. The Renaissance-inspired interiors, the brass accents, and the intricate details all elevate the store, making it feel both luxurious and inviting. Collaborating with Gauri was seamless—she understands our aesthetic so well, having designed most of our couture stores, and brought that same creative synergy into the Falguni Shane Peacock Dhan Mill store.

M: What’s next for Falguni Shane Peacock?

FSP: After a successful run internationally and then even in India, we are ready to take on a creative brand extension experiential space! This time around, we want to focus on both markets rather than one at a time. We’ve got expansion plans for India and then the US that we’re working on simultaneously, with a vision for world dominance. We are working on some major projects at this moment; we cannot share much, but it’s going to be an exciting next few months for the brand.
