Couturier JJ Valaya showcased his F/W 2024 collection ‘Muraqqa’ at the Hyundai India Couture Week, in association with Reliance Brands…
The sound of wind and rain paired with eclectic beats made for the traditional souk that was recreated for the runway at JJ Valaya’s Hyundai India Couture Week showcase.
The music in the background was produced and directed by Sahil Vasudeva and models walked in extravagant gowns in hues of royal blue, powder pink, cream ivory burnt orange, and cream alongside the black and white stripes, that are characteristic of the designer’s creations.
The standout elements included bejewelled capes over saris and gowns. The men too were wearing red—a first in the JJ Vallaya collection.
The scallop-border saris had flowing sleeves with a V-neckline. However, the standout element of the collection was the introduction of black for brides and grooms.
JJ Vallaya exclusively told Manifest, “It’s the colour of the season. Most people you spot in this room will be wearing black and I think the coming generation likes to wear black.”
Inspired by the three famous cities of Isfahan, Delhi, and Istanbul, the collection pays homage to the rich history of Islamic art.
The dark colour palette is sure to make its way to the mood boards of brides who love a touch of drama and gothic moodiness in their wardrobes.
