We caught up with designer Isha Jajodia on what she’s looking forward to at the FDCI Manifest Wedding Weekend, her new collection, and so much more…
Roseroom by Isha J needs no introduction. Luxury, opulence and elegance—are three words that define the identity of the label that will be showcased for the second time, later this July at the India Couture Week (ICW) 2024.
Roseroom is unlike any other label that breaks the clutter that surrounds traditional trousseau and bridal wear. Shedding old-school connotations of the close lehenga choli, her designs are supremely feminine but come with an edgy twist.
Crafted impeccably, the attention to detail can’t be missed—think fine fabrics, and elements such as ruffles, and tassels among others. Whether you are the bride, her best friend or even her sister or aunt—every creation by Rose Room by Isha Jajodia is timeless and hence is for you…
Manifest: Tell us about your new collection and how it differs from the previous one.
Isha Jajodia: Our new collection features intricate lace details and delicate fabric designs. The collection’s designs are meticulously curated to evoke a sense of sophistication and refinement, while the use of delicate fabrics enhances the overall elegance.
What sets this collection apart from our previous ones is its deliberate fusion of natural elements with architectural elegance. Each garment embodies a contemporary interpretation of classic charm. This collection features bold silhouettes set in delicate fabrics.
M: This will be your second collection at ICW. How do you feel?
IJ: It is truly exhilarating to present for the second time at ICW. It’s a privilege to showcase our collection alongside such talented designers. I’m eager to see how our designs resonate with the audience this season. This opportunity allows us to connect with fashion enthusiasts, receive feedback, and further establish our brand in this dynamic and competitive industry. I feel incredibly grateful and excited to be part of such a prestigious event once again.
M: What goes on in your mind months before ICW is about to take place?
IJ: The mind is a place filled with creativity and anticipation. Securing quality fabrics is crucial. I monitor every step to ensure the garments are crafted to meet the highest standards. I am constantly refining and finalising designs, ensuring they align with our collection’s theme and vision.
M: What are you looking forward to at ICW?
IJ: I am eagerly looking forward to showcasing our new collection. It’s an opportunity to show our creative vision and craftsmanship on FDCI’s prestigious platform. It will be a celebration of our hard work. Overall, I’m looking forward to it as a platform to share our passion for fashion, connect with like-minded individuals and contribute to the vibrant world of the fashion industry.
M: How has the traditional trousseau evolved over the years?
IJ: The trousseau continues to evolve, ensuring that each bride’s attire is a reflection of her style while honouring cultural traditions and craftsmanship.
People are opting for contemporary designs and blending traditional designs with modern ones. Brides are also prioritising comfort over traditional styles. Instead of traditional bridal attire, many are opting for saris or even pantsuits paired with a veil and playful hairstyle. Brides are also open to sustainable and eco-friendly options.
M: Tell us about a recent anecdote with one of your bridal clients who stayed with you.
IJ: While all brides hold a special place in my heart, my best friend holds an even dearer place. Kanika envisioned wearing the signature RoseRoom scarlet red, a colour synonymous with romance, for her wedding.
Our goal was to craft something timeless yet one that is modern and comfortable. Choosing the Victoria and Albert Museum in London as her venue—we designed her trousseau keeping in mind the museum’s cultural significance. Simply witnessing Kanika walk down the aisle in the RoseRoom scarlet red piece was a truly magical moment.
M: Lastly, How would you describe your style?
IJ: Chic, comfortable, sexy yet elegant.
