“Hi! I'm married. We're married,” wrote Hailee, sharing that they’ve just gotten back from their honeymoon. "I’m sitting here with Josh, and we’re reminiscing on the best weekend of our lives for the millionth time. Over the past two weeks, random yet very specific memories have been popping back into our heads, and we've been blurting them out to each other, often through smiles, laughs, and tears.”

The newsletter described some of the couple’s favourite things from the nuptials, including the themed signature cocktails and the no-phone policy at the wedding. They also shared that they skipped an important tradition for their special day.

Instead of waiting for a first look or the main ceremony, the couple chose to spend the hours before the wedding together.

“On the morning of our wedding, Josh and I met for breakfast just before 7,” the singer-actress wrote. “I’m so glad we did that. I don't think I could've gone the whole day without seeing him! We had a little spread, which included my favourite lemon ricotta pancakes.”

Traditionally, the bride and groom do not see each other till the time they meet at the altar. In some cultures, it’s considered inauspicious for the couple to do so. While the tradition’s origin are problematic (it was done in the olden time to ensure the groom doesn’t run away if the bride wasn’t attractive enough), many couples still chose to follow the ritual to preserve the romantic notion of meeting at the altar for the first time after benign separated for a while.

However, it is fast becoming a trend for the bride and groom to go for a ‘first look’ ceremony, where the couple reveal their attire to each other just before they walk down the aisle. Some couples, like Hailee and Josh, are even opting to forego the whole practice and spend quality time in the run-up to the wedding. This is why the trend of earlymoons is also fast becoming popular with modern couples.

Ultimately, your wedding is a celebration of the love shared between you and your partner. The traditions you choose to incorporate or skip are all yours to decide.

For Manifest to become one of Cambridge Dictionary's most viewed words of 2024 — 1,30,000 hits and counting — it means some of us must have Googled it at least once. I know, I hit that search button over and over again
because each time I looked at it, I saw a new meaning.

Putting together a homegrown title at a time when the demise of print has been long announced may seem surprising...
...but it has long been a dream of mine to give India a magazine it deserves. A magazine that is the country.

And nothing, absolutely nothing, represents India more than our weddings. It is a time when families are brought together. Traditions come alive as they are adapted to each couple's beliefs. And lives are joined in a way that the romantic in me still enjoys.
