At Indian weddings, celebration inevitably finds its way to the bar—but today, that moment is being thoughtfully reimagined. From welcome cocktails at sundowners to post-phera nightcaps, couples are curating their pours with as much intention as their menus and music. Enter India’s growing roster of homegrown spirits and craft labels. Small-batch gins, thoughtfully aged whiskies, artisanal liqueurs, and wines made closer to home are finding pride of place behind wedding bars. These aren’t just drinks; they’re conversation starters, rooted in provenance and poured with purpose. A well-chosen drink becomes part of the memory, raising a toast not just to the evening, but to a thoughtfully chosen happily ever after.

India's Homegrown Spirits and Craft Labels You Should Keep in Mind

    Godawan

    Godawan-Single-malt-02--600x400

A Rajasthan-born single malt named after the endangered Great Indian Bustard. Crafted with local barley and matured in desert heat, Godawan is bold and expressive, with spicy, fruity notes.

    Indri

    indri-banner-update-2

A triple-wood Indian single malt, aged in ex-bourbon, ex-French wine, and ex-sherry casks. Indri is balanced yet layered, offering vanilla, nutty spice, citrus, and fruit, and has quickly earned global acclaim.

    Camikara Rum

    Camikara-Rum-750ML

India’s first premium rum is made from fresh sugarcane juice, not molasses. Aged in American oak, Camikara reveals honeyed sweetness, ginger warmth, caramel depth, and spice.

    Makazai

    Maka-Zai-White-Rum-750ML

India’s first craft rum was born in Goa. Makazai is rooted in a Made-in-India ethos, using locally sourced ingredients and components. The turtle emblem is a quiet tribute to Goa’s Olive Ridley turtles.

    Longitude 77

    Longitude-77-Single-Malt-Whisky-750ML

Named after the 77° East meridian, Longitude 77 is a modern Indian single malt by Pernod Ricard. Matured in bourbon and wine casks, it delivers smooth layers of vanilla, caramel, and gentle smoke, polished and globally minded.

    Cherrapunji

    rainiest-2

Eastern Craft Gin Distilled with pure rainwater from Meghalaya and native botanicals like Khasi mandarin and juniper, this gin tastes distinctly of its origin.

For Manifest to become one of Cambridge Dictionary's most viewed words of 2024 — 1,30,000 hits and counting — it means some of us must have Googled it at least once. I know, I hit that search button over and over again
because each time I looked at it, I saw a new meaning.

Putting together a homegrown title at a time when the demise of print has been long announced may seem surprising...
...but it has long been a dream of mine to give India a magazine it deserves. A magazine that is the country.

And nothing, absolutely nothing, represents India more than our weddings. It is a time when families are brought together. Traditions come alive as they are adapted to each couple's beliefs. And lives are joined in a way that the romantic in me still enjoys.

    THE NEW BRIDE.
