    Everything To Know About Vajacials

    What is a vagacial?

Simply put, a vagacial is a noninvasive procedure that focuses on the external skin of the vulva, not the internal vaginal area. The process is pretty straightforward: it typically involves cleansing, gentle exfoliation, a soothing mask, and hydration. This combination works wonders for maintaining healthy, smooth skin down below. "The benefits of a vagacial are manifold," explains Dr Mour. "It helps reduce ingrown hairs, soothe irritation, even out skin tone, and maintain overall skin health in the vulva area. A vagacial can enhance the skin's texture and prevent clogged pores, keeping everything smooth and clean.”

What are the advantages of getting a vagacial?

It's not just about pampering—vagacials also address specific skin concerns. Dr Mour points out, "Vagacials are particularly beneficial for those who experience ingrown hairs, irritation from shaving or waxing, hyperpigmentation, and uneven skin texture in the vulva area."

These treatments can also help calm inflammation and prevent future skin issues, making them a go-to for anyone dealing with these common problems. When it comes to the actual treatment, vagacials use a range of gentle ingredients and techniques designed to rejuvenate the skin. "Common ingredients include gentle exfoliants like lactic acid, soothing agents like aloe vera, and hydrating masks," says Dr Mour. The treatment may also involve light exfoliation, steaming, and the application of serums or masks. Together, these elements work to cleanse, soothe, and refresh the skin, leaving it soft and smooth.

What are the things to keep in mind before getting a vagacial?

Of course, as with any skincare treatment, it's important to be aware of potential risks. Dr Mour advises that while vagacials are generally safe, potential risks include mild irritation or sensitivity, particularly if the skin is sensitive or if harsh products are used. This is why it's crucial to ensure the treatment is performed by a trained professional using the appropriate products to minimise any risks.

For those eager to make vagacials a regular part of their routine, Dr Mour suggests that they can be performed every 4 to 6 weeks, depending on individual skin needs and concerns. And between treatments, there are plenty of ways to maintain vaginal skin health: gentle cleansing, avoiding harsh products, wearing breathable fabrics, and exfoliating weekly to prevent ingrown hairs are all part of the upkeep.

Vagacials aren't for everyone, but they can be particularly helpful for those dealing with specific skin issues in the vulva area. "Good candidates include those who experience ingrown hairs, irritation, or hyperpigmentation," Dr Mour notes, though she also warns that there are some contraindications to be aware of, such as active infections or recent waxing or shaving. So, what can you expect during and after a vagacial?

Dr Mour shares that the treatment involves mild sensations like warmth from steaming or tingling from exfoliation. Afterwards, your skin should feel smooth and hydrated, with minimal downtime required. Just be sure to avoid tight clothing and sexual activity for 24 hours to prevent any irritation.

If your self-care routine could use a little extra sparkle, a vagacial might just be the missing piece. This treatment is all about making sure your vulva feels as fabulous as the rest of you. From soothing irritation to keeping your skin smooth and clear, a vagacial is the ultimate way to show your intimate area some love.

So why not take the plunge? After all, a little pampering never hurts anyone—and your vulva will thank you for it!
