Most grooms want to look their best on the most significant day of their lives. However, one need not lose sleep over it. A few diet modifications, easy-to-follow workout plans, and skin treatments can transform you into your best version in the run-up to the wedding.

Groom’s Pre-Wedding Wellness Routine

The groom’s spa

Layan Life by Anantara in Phuket offers Active For Life, a programme that is tailor-made for grooms. Think customised treatments that will get you in shape, help you feel calm, and encourage inner peace (we all know weddings are stressful).

The selection of key treatments at Anantara includes Thai Aqua Vitality Ritual as a body cleansing experience, HydraFacial Therapy and Advanced Light Therapy for glowing skin, and Venus Legacy for body contouring to help them feel confident.

Training with expert physiotherapists and IV Beauty Therapy are also great additions for that pre-wedding boost for skin and overall health. Moreover, Burut Vitality Therapy, which enhances the flow of male energy, is also an option, before and even after the wedding, for well-being during the honeymoon.

When to start: Start at least 90 days before the wedding date. However, it’s highly recommended to do a consultation earlier so that the programme can be tailored as per your needs.

What’s achievable: If one strictly adheres to the programme, results can be seen within three to four months.

Combat acne

Dr. Geetika Srivastava, dermatologist and founder of Influennz Clinic, suggests a thorough consultation. One popular option is the Carbon Peel, also known as the Hollywood Facial—a go-to pre-wedding treatment for grooms. It tackles oily skin, acne (especially the stubborn kind), tanning, enlarged pores, and scarring — all in one session. Truncal acne, affecting the back and shoulders, is quite common in men due to higher oil production in those areas. If untreated, it can leave behind brown blemishes or even crater-like scars. Begin with a benzoyl peroxide-based body wash to regulate oil production.

When to start: Start the skin treatment at least four to six weeks before the wedding.

What’s achievable: Apply topical treatments containing salicylic acid, adapalene, or sulfur to reduce breakouts. For those who struggle with routine, in-clinic procedures like Acne Rescue can clear active acne quickly and effectively.

Target thinning hair

If one suffers from scanty hair or hair fall, Dr. Srivastava recommends Hair PRP and QR678, which targets thinning hair at the root level. While PRP uses growth factors derived from the patient’s own blood, QR678 offers a vegan alternative with natural DHT blockers to treat hair

loss such as androgenetic alopecia or telogen effluvium.

When to start: For those with advanced hair loss, hair transplantation is a permanent solution. However, give it at least 12 months for noticeable results.

What’s achievable: Meanwhile, hair wigs and toupées remain excellent options. For temporary volume, hair fibres like Toppik act as makeup for your scalp, instantly concealing thinning areas.

Start weight training

Fitness expert Shamsz Sayed suggests lifting weights three to four times a week in the run-up to the wedding. “Stick to big moves like squats, deadlifts, bench presses, or pull-ups. They burn calories and keep your muscles looking defined. Do three to four sets of eight to 12 reps. It’ll keep your metabolism fired up,” says Sayed. He also recommends cardio sessions at least two to three times a week.

“Mix in some high-intensity interval training (HIIT) — think 15–20 minutes of sprinting for 30 seconds, followed by a minute of walking. It’s a fat-burning beast. Add one or two 30-40-minute brisk walks or bike rides to torch extra calories without burning yourself out,” he adds. One also needs a slight calorie deficit—maybe 300-500 fewer than what one usually consumes daily.

Download fitness apps

“Use an app like MyFitnessPal to figure out your sweet spot. For most guys, 1,800-2,200 calories a day does the trick for fat loss. Aim for 120-160 gm of protein daily (think chicken, eggs, fish, or protein shakes) if one is around 75 kg. It keeps you full and saves your muscles. Round off meals with veggies, some carbs like rice or sweet potatoes, and fats like avocado or nuts,” recommends Sayed.

When to start: Start this regimen four to six weeks before the wedding date.

What’s achievable: You could realistically drop a few pounds —maybe 1.5-4 kg—and look more toned, especially if you’re consistent.
