Now a new trend has come into existence, one called ‘Pineapple Dating.’
What Is The Pineapple Dating Trend?
The dating trend originated in Spain around September this year. Many people began going to the well-known grocery store chain Marcedona between seven to eight pm to find a partner. The process involves picking up a pineapple and placing it in your shopping cart, but upside down, and then walking to the wine and liquor aisle and waiting to see if anyone you’re interested in also has an upended pineapple in their shopping cart. An upside-down pineapple signals to others that you are available and single. What a way to find a special someone right? The trend has caught the Internet’s imagination as people love the idea of meeting someone in a way like this.

According to a study carried out by Ofcom, UK’s Office of Communications, many people have reached a sense of dissatisfaction and saturation with dating apps and are clearly looking for better ways to connect with others who are looking for partners. Even in India, research by dating platform QuackQuack suggests that 37% of people from bigger cities are using dating apps, while only 19% of the lot get to a second or third date with a person. People are craving real connections that go beyond algorithms and cleverly written bios. Perhaps, this is the reason the pineapple, or hardware store meet-cutes are appealing to people.

How Effective Can Pineapple Dating Be?
There is no way to decipher the right way to fall in love or find that special someone for yourself. We all know of direct or indirect instances of couples being happily married or together even after meeting via a dating app, and vice versa.
