What's Going On With Selena Gomez’s Engagement Status?

Are Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco engaged? The question du jour is baffling terminally online celebrity news enthusiasts and we figured it’s time we put our investigative caps on (it’s a delightful, plaid deerstalker. Think Sherlock, but fashion) and get to the bottom of this.
The rumours of Selena and Benny’s engagement started surfacing after the singer shared a photo on her Instagram Stories, presumably while getting ready for a night out with Benny Blanco.

While the photo wasn’t any different from the many candid ones shared by both Benny and Selena ever since they went public with their relationship, the placement of heart emojis covering her ring finger instantly raised suspicion amongst her eagle-eyed followers.
Fans were quick to draw a connection between the photo and a post shared on the popular gossip account Deuxmoi a few days before.
The post claimed that a “singer-actress got engaged over the weekend to her boyfriend of a year”. Now first reports of Selena and Benny dating began surfacing online in late 2023, with the couple making their relationship official in January 2024 at the Emmys.

So many weren’t sure if the Deuxmoi post applied to Selena and Benny since they didn’t make the cut for the “boyfriend of a year” criteria. The second part of the blind item, however, did make the case for the engagement report to be about them as it said that the engagement was “at their usual beach house hang out”. Selena has a beach vacation house in Malibu where she films her show Selena + Chef and often hangs out with Benny too.
A little after this, reports of them splitting up began surfacing online but the popstar easily dispelled these with a selfie shared on her Instagram recently. The bathroom mirror snapshot showed Selena draped over Benny, who seemed to be in the middle of wiping his face with a towel.

While it effectively cleared the breakup rumours, it brought Selena’s engagement ring-less fingers into focus. Is she engaged or not?
Just before the tide could completely turn in the favour of Team ‘Selena is not engaged and even if she is it’s not a big deal’, Selena went ahead and followed a popular wedding planner on TikTok bringing us all back in instantly.
Selena is now following CMG Wedding & Event on TikTok. The company specialises in planning luxury weddings and is popular across California.
While the couple has neither confirmed nor denied the engagement rumours, they have hinted that they’re both in it for the long haul.

In an interview back in May with Howard Stern, Benny spoke about how he is ready to settle down and start a family with Selena. The singer, too, proudly showcased her commitment to her boyfriend by wearing a necklace with his initials to her birthday in July.
Whether they’re planning to tie the knot soon or not, it’s clear that the two are going strong and we can expect an announcement soon. Stay tuned!
