    What Is An Earlymoon?

An earlymoon is a growing trend where couples escape on a honeymoon-inspired getaway to unwind and reconnect before the wedding ceremony.

The term became popular back in 2017 when Kate Middleton’s sister Pippa decided to leave for a quick getaway to St. Barts with her fiancé James Matthews right before their nuptials in London. While unconventional, the timing of the vacation was met with a positive response from couples who could relate to Pippa and James’ desire for a short vacation to recuperate from the stress of wedding planning. The trend is now seeing a resurgence in popularity with more and more couples choosing to take a break with each other before rejoining the chaos of putting together a wedding.

Why Should You Opt For An Earlymoon?

An earlymoon is not a conventional option for many, especially Indian couples. But if you’re in a situation where you can slip away for a short vacation with your future life partner, then you should definitely think about giving earlymoon a chance.

Just like how a honeymoon is a vacation to recuperate from the stress of a wedding post the ceremony, earlymoon is a chance to prepare yourself for what lies ahead. It offers the two of you a chance to rest, reconnect, recharge and get in some quality time before the wedding ceremonies begin. It can also give you a much-needed breather from all the stress and leave you mentally and physically rejuvenated.

What To Know Before Planning An Earlymoon

Ready to jump on board the earlymoon hype train? Here’s everything you should keep in mind before planning the perfect pre-wedding getaway with your partner…

    Timing is key

The ideal time to go for an earlymoon is after all your major wedding planning tasks are sorted. This includes locking in major vendors, like photographers, caterers etc., and any other task that requires your direct involvement.

    Ditch the itinerary

The point of an earlymoon is to give you time to unwind and relax before the wedding. This is why you need to make sure that your earlymoon doesn’t require extensive planning, like a detailed itinerary packed with activities or something that requires carrying special luggage.

    Short and sweet

Understandably, the run-up to the wedding can barely offer a chance to take time off. Your earlymoon doesn’t have to be a week-long trip, it can even be a weekend getaway. The focus should be on getting to spend some quality time with your partner. You can even opt for a staycation with romantic dinner plans with your SO to make the most of your time.

    Budget matters

Weddings can be an expensive affair and if you’ve already planned a proper honeymoon, post the wedding, then spending a lot on another trip before the ceremony can seem excessive and unnecessary. An earlymoon doesn’t have to put additional stress on your bank account. Booking an Airbnb for a staycation and holing indoors to watch movies and eat good food can also be considered a perfect earlymoon. Remember, there are no wrong answers.

There you have it. If you’re getting married in a few months, it might be worthwhile to give earlymoon a chance.
