Best Time Loop Romances To Watch Before You Stream ‘Bhool Chuk Maaf’
The Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi starrer is coming to the streaming device near you…
"What would you do if you were stuck in one place, and every day was exactly the same, and nothing that you did mattered?" asks Phil Connors, played by Bill Murray in the classic time loop film Groundhog Day (1993). The question forms the base of every time loop movie ever, including the upcoming Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi rom-com Bhool Chuk Maaf.
Directed by Karan Sharma, the movie follows the life of a small-town romantic who finds himself stuck in a time loop, reliving the day of his Haldi over and over again.
The movie, which was slated to release on 9 May 2025, has been pushed to May 16 for a direct-to-OTT release by the makers, keeping in mind the turbulent socio-political climate in the country.
“In light of the recent events and the heightened security drills across the nation, we at Maddock Films and Amazon MGM Studios have decided to bring our family entertainer, Bhool Chuk Maaf, directly to your homes on May 16 — only on Prime Video, worldwide,” read the statement by the production house.
Time loop is a popular plot device that’s found its place in the rom-com genre over the years. The comforting idea of a do-over and the inherent romance of meeting your fated one over and over again lend themselves to the genre naturally. The nihilistic bent of repeating the same day over and over again is just fun to watch.
There have been many explorations of time loops in romantic movies over the years, and here are some of our favourites. Add these to your watchlists as you wait to stream Bhool Chuk Maaf online…

About Time (2013)
This delightful romantic movie defies some of the basic tropes of the subgenre. There’s no nihilistic despair or foolhardy exploration of how much one can get away with the time loop’s resetting abilities. Tim (Domhnall Gleeson) finds out the men in his life can travel back in time (only in their lifetime, though) and decides to use this gift to find his one true love.

Meet Cute (2022)
The concept of time loop in a romantic movie is a darkly comic prospect in its own right, and this Kaley Cuoco and Pete Davidson starrer explores that. It follows Sheila and Gary, who are on a one-day time loop as she wants to relive their meet-cute over and over. Unaware of the effects her meddling is having on the timeline, Sheila continues to abuse the time-travelling portal till she reaches consequences that she decidedly doesn’t want.
