These Poodles’ Wedding Is The Cutest Thing You’ll See On The Internet Today
Inside Cupid and Tofu’s paw-some wedding!
For today’s episode of the ‘Wholesome Side of the Internet’, standard poodles Tofu and Cupid are here with their beautiful wedding ceremony in Singapore. The couple tied the knot surrounded by their fellow canines and their humans in a picturesque cafe on 14 June, a date specially picked by a Feng Shui master.
Four-year-old poodles Tofu and Cupid looked resplendent in their wedding finery, with the bride Tofu wearing a lace gown and the groom Cupid in a sleek black collar.
The wedding, held at the Venusology cafe, had 16 of their canine friends and 30 humans in attendance. The guests were shown a video montage of the couple’s journey to the altar, from the moment they met to all the playdates that followed.
The bride walked down the aisle to Bruno Mars’ ‘Just the Way You Are’. The couple’s parents exchanged the vows on their behalf, probably on account of them being dogs with no ability to speak human languages.
“When the poodles exchanged their vows, I was tearing up,” said Tofu’s parent Christine Fan, in an interview with The Straits Times. “My husband read the vows on behalf of the dogs, where they promised to share treats and toys forever, and to always be by each other’s side.”
Cupid’s parent Sarah Lam revealed to the newspaper that they had spent close to $5,600 (INR 4,30,000 approx) for the wedding. According to her, it was all worth it as Cupid had been a steadfast companion for years. “I told Cupid, ‘You’re now a father. Your job is to protect Tofu and your eight puppies.’ I can see how anxiously he waits by the puppies, lying next to them and touching paws with Tofu.”
The ceremony also celebrated the birth of the dogs’ eight puppies in May, who also joined the celebrations. The wedding had goodie bags and a high tea for the guests, complete with custom desserts.
Tofu and Cupid met each other in 2023 at a birthday party in the same cafe. Tofu was very popular with the other pups and wouldn’t give Cupid the time of day. But despite her initial disinterest in the poodle, Tofu warmed up to him during their subsequent playdates and Friday night strolls around Marina Bay Sands. The rest, as they say, was history.
Lavish dog weddings are becoming a trend in China and Singapore, with owners spending up to INR 12 lakhs for the weddings. Here’s hoping that Cupid and Tofu’s marital bliss lasts fur-ever!
