Someone Found The ‘Sex And The City’ Wedding Dress At A Thrift Shop For INR 1,700
Sarah Jessica Parker’s Vera Wang wedding gown has become the thrift find of the century!
HBO’s Sex and the City had many memorable fashion moments, whether it was Carrie Bradshaw’s tutu in the opening sequence or the Fendi Baguette bag that became the point of contention during a mugging. Another fan-favourite sartorial moment is the photoshoot from the 2008 movie spinoff from when Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) was shot for a Vogue spread in designer wedding gowns.

In the montage, Carrie could be seen wearing wedding gowns frond designers like Christian Dior, Vera Wang, Carolina Herrera and Vivienne Westwood. While she ultimately ended up wearing the Vivienne Westwood gown for her (first) wedding, there’s no denying that each gown in the shoot was iconic.
Nearly two decades later, the Vera Wang dress featured in the movie turned up in a Chicago thrift store and has now gone viral as one of the most successful thrift find of recent times.
Poshmark reseller Ashley Cano was shopping at a Goodwill store when she stumbled upon the Vera Wang wedding dress priced at a mere $19 (INR 1,659 approx).
When she shared her find online, SATC fans poured in the comment section of her video to congratulate her on the incredible find and beg for her to sell it to them.
Originally named the Eleanor Bridal Gown, it features a strapless white bodice and a voluminous ruffled skirt. In the movie, Sarah Jessica Parker wore it with opera-length satin gloves and a simple veil.

According to resale bridal website Nearly Newlywed, the original was priced around $7,500 (INR 6,55,400 approx) and would resell at nearly $3,000 (INR 2,62,160 approx).
Ashley doesn’t intend to keep the iconic movie memorabilia for herself (“No diet could ever have me making it work”) and is planning to sell it to cover her divorce costs. “Low key been stressing over my lawyer bills for my divorce, (sic),” she wrote in her comment section, “I needed a blessing. Didn’t think it would come in the way of a wedding dress, but I’m not complaining.”
