Charli XCX Marries George Daniel in A Low-Key, But High-Style Ceremony
Charlie XCX and George Daniel tie the knot in a high-style wedding with just close friends and family...
ICYM, pop culture’s edgy princess, Charli XCX, has finally tied the knot! The queen of experimental pop is now officially married to George Daniel, the drummer of The 1975. One of the most stylish weddings, Charli’s special day was hosted in East London’s Hackney Town Hall. The couple were captured on Saturday walking out of the Art Deco building through a flurry of confetti.
All We Know About Charli XCX’s Low-Key Wedding
No star-studded guest list or wedding gown
The pair, better known for their work together, had successfully kept the details regarding their relationship and wedding under wraps and yet not completely hidden. The ceremony was an intimate event given Charlie’s fame.
There was no star-studded guest list, but only a small group of loved ones, including Charli’s parents and Daniel’s bandmates. The news of their wedding made the rounds when the couple was spotted and filmed by a passerby, which went viral on the internet. It was later confirmed by the pop star on TikTok with a post.
What was surprising was that Charli had shown up to her wedding ceremony, not in an extravagant white wedding gown but in the ultimate punk-meets-princess look, wearing a £3,300 Vivienne Westwood minidress, accompanied by a veil and her signature black sunglasses, while Daniel wore a dark double-breasted suit.
Not just a musical journey but an iconic love story
George and Charli, who first connected in the year 2021 while working on the track, Spinning, with The 1975 and No Rome, have been together for almost three years and have worked together on one of Charli’s most successful albums of the year 2024, Brat, where George co-produced Club Classics. Their love story, built on shared music and mutual admiration of each other, had become public in May of 2022 after Daniel appeared on Charli’s Saturday Night Live performance.
Along with the other albums, George has also co-written Apple with Charli. On Club Classics, you can even hear Charli sing, “wanna dance with George,” clearly indicating that their partnership is deeply personal for the two of them.
From working on genre-defying music albums to now tying the knot, the couple’s journey has been an iconic one that did not need a special venue or a long guest list to make their wedding day special. All it took was some confetti, an off-shoulder minidress and love to make their day memorable.
